Info about possible gameplay from duckroll on GAF:

"Sakaguchi has been talking about the game on and off on his blog for almost 2 years now. If he's been talking about the same game, then it is likely real time instead of turn based, and it will feature a lot of seamless stuff both in narrative (cutscenes and events happening while the player is still in control) as well as in battles and exploration. He also mentions how he wants to clearly define chaos and order on a battlefield, and to allow the player to control the action in a strategic and logical way even when the battles look chaotic or large scale.

It'll be interesting to see how much of his text translates well into actual gameplay and visuals."

Thinking about this again, isn't that the kind of thing you'd say about a real time strategy rather than a jRPG?

Or perhaps a first person or third person RTS/RPG. That wouldn't need to be as complicated as it sounds, all it would involve would be pointing at your party members with the Wii remote and giving them orders (such as attack this enemy I'm pointing at).

I don't really think it's that simple. Though I wonder if armies might be involved somehow.

If it was a RTS, simluation or action RPG, it'd have already said so.  The genre's listed on the website (RPG).

I wouldn't rule out commanding groups (like Last Remnant) or even armies (like Suikoden) though...

'RPG' is a very wide genre though. He's mentioned it being real time on his blog, and that comment above does give me the impression that you're going to be giving orders, what other way is there to interpret it?

A game I'm developing with some friends:

It is largely a technical exercise but feedback is appreciated.

'RPG' is broad, but the Japanese have pretty strict genre classifications.  While 'RPG' can range from Tales to DQ to FF to Suikoden to Pokemon, it doesn't include subgenre stuff like Fire Emblem (Simulation RPG), Culdcept (Table RPG), Shiren (Dungeon RPG) or Kingdom Hearts (Action RPG).

how would vitality sensor work? surely this game will need wiimote and nunchuck control as well?

There is no "device." It's just a trademark thing they have to add to identify goods. It means nothing.

I dont know iwata talked about VS just after saying that this game would be about human emotions at the presentation ... i still think that thing are linked ...somehow

GO PATS! 2012 THE YEAR OF NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS'S 4TH SUPER BOWL!

A patriot to the end. GO PATS!

Now playing> THE LAST STORY (Wii) Best RPG I EVER PLAYED. *-*

Nintendo could u please just take my money and give me back my 3DS?!

@ Soriku

That is nothing special. You'll find MANY game developers say things like that about their games. Don't take it to heart. Let the game itself prove itself.

It being the only game MW is working on currently is news though. R.I.P. Blue Dragon 2. :(

Reading that makes me want to play this game more.

Pixel Art can be fun.

The game should be good, let's see what happens...

On a side comment, i'm really tired of some RPG names, most of them are like: Infinite, The Last, Final, Ultima (Last in spanish), End, Fate, etc.

It also means last in portuguese and Italian :P

Love romance languages, you have one down and bam!, you learn 3 more in less than a year :P

Unlike Nihongo, i'm still not near speaking it fluently, much less writing and reading it (at least i can do kana and some kanjies) XD

Well I guess I'll have to scuttle my plans for a new RPG. I was going to call it Final End of The Last Fate: Ultima's Infinite Tale

How bout: The Last Infinite Saga: Ultima's Hope 'till the End of Final Fate

What if The Last Story became a series alongside Final Fantasy?

Let's hope this game pulls through as a classic.
