Forums - Nintendo Discussion - I am most disappointed in myself

While I was trying to collect all of the Star Coins in the first eight worlds in order to unlock world nine in New Super Mario Bros. Wii, I did something that feel that I shouldn't have.  I couldn't find the second Star Coin in World 2-5 and had to look at a walkthrough on the internet.  This is not the most disappointing thing though.  The most disturbing part of this atrocity that I committed is that the walkthrough I used was from IGN.  I hope that Matt Cassamassasassafrassamia and the rest of their employees are happy that I actually gave their site another hit.  8.9 rating for that game my ass...

* Spoilers*

Sorry guys.  I couldn't figure out that I had to swallow that fire breathing Piranha plant with Yoshi and then turn back and shoot a fireball.  Who would have thunk it?

*End of Spoilers*

So which is worse, the fact that I had to use a walkthrough, albeit briefly, to get 100% completion on NSMB Wii, or the fact that I went to IGN to do it?  Also, do you think that it's acceptable to consult a walkthrough if you're really stuck?  Should I hand in my gamer card now or should I be less hard on myself?

Hand in your gamer card!

I collected every red coin in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island without any aid. You should take learnings.

Umm...Thats one of most stupid things I have heard.

Take my love, take my land..

The IGN thing is worse.

It's fine to use a guide if you're really stuck. That being said I've been really stuck in Majora's Mask like 4 times.

Though, it's best to use in game hints, it feels less like cheating that way. That's what I did for a few secret exits. That one where you have to hit the invisible block between the big ? blocks , while the giant fish is trying to eat you. I never would have found that on my own, I tried for like half an hour. Cost me a few Star Coins but they're not good for anything.

"Now, a fun game should always be easy to understand - you should be able to take one look at it and know what you have to do straight away. It should be so well constructed that you can tell at a glance what your goal is and, even if you don’t succeed, you’ll blame yourself rather than the game. Moreover, the people standing around watching the game have also got to be able to enjoy it." - Shiggy

who cares if you used a guide? and i dont see what the problem is with using it from IGN, you need to relax, your fine, you just needed a guide and IGN happens to some of the time have the best ones

You heard this?

The funny thing is that my thread doesn't have audio.

Would you have ranked the game higher or lower?

@amp

simple rule

If UC2 is supposed to be GOTY, NSMBWii = 75, else NSMBWii = 9.5 or higher (NSMB DS score from IGN)

Anyways, 1st off, you should have used gamefaqs, they are much better for FAQs regardless of "bias" and crap like that.

2nd off, I'm disappointed in you because I gave you 30 days to overtake rol's popularity and you haven't even tried. In fact, rol already wrote a better rol thread than rol himself (the readers decided themselves).
