64 bit, without question. Newer CPUs will respond better to the 64 bit version, I thought I heard that 32 bit versions of windows wont take advantage of multi-core cpus?

The bolded is completely false.

Fair enough, like I said, its something I heard from other people. Wasn't sure if it was accurate.

Windows 7 (64-bit version) is the answer to everything.

Get a 64 bit.

Almost 99 percent of everything is 64 bit compatible and the only difference you're going to notice is that things run faster once you get the ram in there. There is no special "computer skills" that make 64 different from 32 from a users standpoint. There is absolutely no reason to not get 64 bit.

No, it is 4 GB - but that also includes things such as VRAM, among other things. So if you had a 1 GB video card, you'd be limited to 3 GB memory on a 32-bit system, or less.

Nice theory and false, too. A colleague of mine has a 2GByte video card (NOT 2 1G cards in parallel) and still sees over 3G ram. Video ram adressing is not as simple as you seem to think. But besides that, if you have a system that supports more than 4G of ram (pretty much everything sold now), go with 64 bits.

Tough guys goes for 64-bit

hah.. nice one GamingChartzFTW

I'd 64 bit.. coz its faster for certain apps. 7zip for ex runs a LOT faster-encoding/mem taks shd be faster.
Some ppl suggest 64 bit is more secure than 32 bit. I dont really buy into that claim too much. For the gamer an important fact is that 64 bit windows supports only 64 bit "signed drivers". So older devices might have issues there.

I think the performance difference atm is too small, but I'd go with 64bit win.

Doubt is not a pleasant condition, but certainty is absurd.

5 THINGS I'd like to see before i knock out:

a. a AAA 3D sonic title

b. a nintendo developed game that has a "M rating"

c. redesgined PS controller

d. SEGA back in the console business

e. M$ out of the OS business

Well if you don't play with it, go with 32 bit..Since 64 bit needs at least 4 GB ram..You don't need 2gb+ ram...
I got 64 bit WIndos 7 for my gaming laptop..Well its annoying that some games yet don't work on it.

Take my love, take my land..

64bits has been crawling for 4 OS gens now 2000, XP, Vista, 7.... i'd say it's a safe bet that it's pretty much ready now.

Though I do have a driver issue. Belking T52 (not the e version).... instals fine but I tried it in crysis and it kept on going into a mode where all my weapons were shuffling.... making it imposible to shoot or anything. Haven't had time to try it in other games though. (funny thing I had to use crysis 32 bits as 64 bits didn't work.... wierd :p)

if your hardware supports 64bit get it. It allows you to use a larger amount of ram. The 4 gigs are also a total. So it includes all the ram your video card has. In other words, it substracts your vid ram from your total normal ram.

For instance, my system can only show 3.25gb ram.

Check out my game about moles ^

hmmm. I didn't realize it was 4GB total for 32bit devices (i.e. system + video card).

I am about to go to win7 as well and i currently have 4GB mem and my video card has 512MB.

I noticed it only saw about 3.75GB of system memory but I was unaware that it also ignored the 512MB video memory.

All of my parts support 64bit so I guess that answers my question. Especially since I could upgrade to a much large gpu and overall memory.
