Forums - Sales Discussion - Now that I've horribly lost my Madworld Bet, lets make a Red Steel 2 bet.

Assuming the game will be very good, a lot will depend on the marketing. If it's heavily marketed then I may agree, it it's sent out to die then just no.

But Stof...Ubisoft themselves just cut their projection to 500,000. You really think it will sell twice what the publisher expects!?

I know I'm buying RS2, however, I also bought Madworld. :/

Not a good sign... Oh no...

I think it should do it, easily. The only thing I can see going against this game is Red Steel 1.

It is largely a technical exercise but feedback is appreciated.

I'll take that bet. The 3rd party games that I have seen that release a sequel don't seem to reach their predecessor =)

While generally true, it wasn;t the case for Ubi's other big launch launch game (Raving Rabbids), whose sequel passed it and threequel matched it.

That's true, but Rayman Raving Rabbids 2 was launched only a year after its predecessor. Red Steel 2 will be launching over 3 years after its predecessor, a game that caught a lot of flack and hasn't built up a strong brand name. I don't know, I just don't see Red Steel 2 making a million.

It looks like this game has gone gold, according to the creative director's twitter.

With plenty of time to spare. Hopefully this means a very well polished game.

Red Steele will not sell 1m, because it has no attraction.

The original red steele was purely 'we have motion control sword fightan' which no other game had, thats all, and it didn't do it well, so people won't expect this one too either.

If you look at every well selling game, it has a certain attraction based on its design (usually art), Mario has a sort of wonderland cute funny platformer.

Wii sports resorts is fun arcade minigames with wiimotion

MW2 is of course modern realistic warfare.

Considering the underwhelming sales CoD on the Wii gets. I don't see Red Steel selling a million.

Red Steel 2 is proper 1:1 swordfighting, and it's being done for the first time with content. I am absolutely sure there are tonnes of gamers out there who have played WSR swordplay and are looking for something with a little more meat.

If it's done right, and I think it will be, Red Steel 2 will be very big.

I am sure that it will be big, but I don't see it selling over 100% more then it's predecessor in its first year
