Forums - Microsoft Discussion - 1up yours rumour: Big 360 game canceled.

How can anyone NOT think that BK3 will be completely ignored on the 360?

If the Wii60 mentality spreads, then there are plenty of people who own both.  If you believe a Wii owner would be interested in a game that a 360 owner isn't then a Wii60 owner may be the answer.

It's the Marvel MMO, go read on 1up.

Thanks to Blacksaber for the sig!

BK3 should have been released on the wii not the 360.

Is Marvel Universe Online Dead?
Microsoft's latest stab at a console MMO appears in serious trouble.

Yawn... Will people stop making stupid guesses that make no sense now?

We don't provide the 'easy to program for' console that they [developers] want, because 'easy to program for' means that anybody will be able to take advantage of pretty much what the hardware can do, so the question is what do you do for the rest of the nine and half years? It's a learning process. - SCEI president Kaz Hirai

It's a virus where you buy it and you play it with your friends and they're like, "Oh my God that's so cool, I'm gonna go buy it." So you stop playing it after two months, but they buy it and they stop playing it after two months but they've showed it to someone else who then go out and buy it and so on. Everyone I know bought one and nobody turns it on. - Epic Games president Mike Capps

We have a real culture of thrift. The goal that I had in bringing a lot of the packaged goods folks into Activision about 10 years ago was to take all the fun out of making video games. - Activision CEO Bobby Kotick

Marvel MMO would have been a seller, based on the license alone.

I don't believe most Wii owners would be interested in it either, honestly.

Like I said, the last true sequel to the game didn't even sell that well and people didn't need to buy a new system to play it.

Then there's the fact that Namco and Capcom have both said that a PS360 game needs to sell 1,000,000+ units before it breaks even, let alone turns a profit. Then you have to factor in Rare's tendency to be massively over budget and never on time with anything.

The internet is a vocal minority. The few remaining BK fans aren't going to be enough to push sales of the game anywhere near profitability, especially when they need to throw down $400 before they can aid the cause, and looking to the 360's current installed userbase to pick up the slack would be futile at best.

 Agreed.

"I mean, c'mon, Viva Pinata, a game with massive marketing, didn't sell worth a damn to the "sophisticated" 360 audience, despite near-universal praise--is that a sign that 360 owners are a bunch of casual ignoramuses that can't get their heads around a 'gardening' sim? Of course not. So let's please stop trying to micro-analyze one game out of hundreds and using it as the poster child for why good, non-1st party, games can't sell on Wii. (Everyone frequenting this site knows this is nonsense, and yet some of you just can't let it go because it's the only scab you have left to pick at after all your other "Wii will phail1!!1" straw men arguments have been put to the torch.)" - exindguy on Boom Blocks

You really think that there isn't major interest for BK3? LOL. Want to know what I think? No? Well I'm going to tell you anyways, I think the only reason you're hoping it was BK3 cancelled was because you're of the mentality that if a game you might want isn't released on the Wii you don't want to see it released on any system. That's pretty sad thinking if I'm right and maybe you should be happy to see what will likely be a AAA platformer on the 360.

Guessing game is over. It looks like it is the Marvel MMO that is canceled.

Yes, cause I'm the sort of rotten, angry fanboy who wouldn't post a thread encouraging 360 owners to buy a game from a former Nintendo developer.

Oh wait...

I'd love to buy Too Human, but I don't own a 360. That doesn't mean it's going to be a bad game or that people should enjoy it any less. On the contrary.

Here's the difference between BK3 and Too Human, try to follow me on this:

A) SK is an excellent developer and has a good track record. Rare WAS a decent developer with a lackluster track record.

B) Too Human is a game where you play as a Norse god violently slaughtering things. BK3 is a game where you play as a cartoon anthropomorphic bear collecting puzzle pieces with eyes.

C) Games where you violently slaughter things have typically done very well on the 360. Games where you play as anthropomorphic animals have not.

This ain't rocket science. When I say that BK3 should be canned on the 360, it's because the game is going to tank and tank hard.

Do you UNDERSTAND that with development costs being what they are on the 360 (for a crap game, even) the game will need to sell over a million copies to recoup losses? Do you know how immensely unlikely that will be?

Even if BK3 was a STELLAR game, do you honestly think the same crowd of frat boys and angstful teens who bought a 360 for Halo 3 is going to do anything but laugh at a game featuring a cartoon bird and bear?

BK3 is a lamb wandering to its slaughter. Too Human stands a pretty good chance of being very well received and I hope it is well received.

Damn, I was looking forward to a Marvel MMO. Anybody tried City of Heroes/Villains?
