Well on Amazon Mass Effect 2 is #2 while MAG is #40. These positions have been similar each time I check.

Seems for whatever reason MAG did not get the hype Mass Efect 2 did...is it the graphics? This is even weirder since MAG is in the more popular genre (FPS).

Could this also give X360 a hardware sales boost or do you think it will not have much effect?

Can MS continue to deliver the more hyped titles in the first half of 2010 (Splinter Cell, Alan Wake, Crackdown 2) ,or will God of War 3 put a stop to this? Can this lead to 360 taking the USA hardware lead by a small amount on PS3 in the first half of 2010?

Mass Effect is a game which everyone can expect to be quality. MAG is a new IP. The concept of MAG is iffy as well. Word of mouth will sell that game much like Batman Arkham Asylum did.

maybe its b/c ppl are finally starting to get tired of FPS games. i no i sure as hell am. Dosent matter anyway Mass Effect 2 will be a far better game than MAG

I have heard on a message board from one person in the beta that MAG is very bad though. So will word of mouth help or hurt?

I will wait to see reviews on MAG before getting it. I really don't like ME2 at all never digger the first one

I played all 5 beta testings for MAG. To see where it came from first beta to where it is now is just amazing. The graphics while not being "completely badA$$" are still very very good. Yes it's an fps at heart, but there's so much more to it. With the exception of the trainwreck called MW2 playstation people have never bought any games in great quantity the first week. I think it's because we wait and see how good it actually is before we get something insted of just taking the company's word for it(again siting MW2). It will come out average and will definitely pick up speed. It's not for the casual shooter but I see no problems in it selling 2 mil in the first year.

It's not even a question of which is going to sell more. ME2 is a sequel to a pretty well-liked game, and by all accounts it's way better and more mainstream in some ways than the first. Advance buzz has people saying it'll be in the GOTY conversation, even though it's coming out in January. MAG is a new IP with mixed feedback from the beta and in a genre that 1. doesn't sell quite as well on PS3, though well....and 2. is up against the biggest FPS there is right now in COD. Will people bother buying another FPS so soon when they have a really strong one already that is obviously going strong? I think MAG will have a decent debut but then will drop off pretty hard. I just don't think word of mouth has been strong enough for it.

The beta isn't THAT bad.  You don't need to laugh at it.
