I like the boxes but I'm sure they will change if released in the West.

I'd expect so.  A lot of 3rd party games have crawled to pretty impressive sales on PS3 & 360 with BEST/Platinum rereleases (Ace Combat 6, Valkyria Chronicles, Beautiful Katamari, COD4, Idolm@ster, etc).  ARF and Muramasa may get over 100k yet!

This potentially could be an excellent move, however at this point in the console cycle I think it will be best for the next Nintendo System. This will be an excellent incentive in the long run for Third parties not to make crap games, but games that the general audience and userbase actually appreciates.

alot of sales incoming

Any prediction for increase of sales?

Will that be the boxart? Ughhh...

Honestly, I never purchased a "Best of" or "Platinum" title because o this. It's ugly as hell and as a collector I simply don't want it. Also, I don't understand why not just reduce the price, but ok... each one his own.

Oh I know what you mean.

The price is even printed on the boxart looool

Depends on how the line's promoted imo.  May help if the publishers also promote the individual games themselves (which I could see Namco Bandai and maybe Sega doing, but not Marvelous).

According the Marvelous, the boxarts are reversable with the original covers on the inside.  Makes sense, Nintendo did the same thing with the NPC line.

Great idea. Most Wii owners don't visit sites like these, so this will allow them to pick up games in confidence that it's a good to great game. It will also allow developers who put actually effort into their games to stand out from the crap that floods Wii shelves and hopefully, with any luck, give them the sales they deserve.

This is a surprising move as this is totally aimed at helping 3rd parties. There's no Nintendo games here.

Great decision, especially since it's a boost for the smaller titles. The "evergreen" games are obviously doing fine.

I realized some of us are going to have games we want when this comes elsewhere, so I made a thread to discuss that.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

Plus, just for the hell of it: Kelly Brook at the 2008 BAFTAs

I also wonder if this is a "one time" thing, or a permanent new budget line?

If it keeps going, I'd like to see Nintendo put some of their own not-evergreen titles on it too maybe (Zelda TP, S&P2, Fire Emblem, Wario Land, etc).
