Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Is Ubisoft pullin a Extraction with Red Steel 2?

Ubisoft just slashed sales predictions in half for Red Steel 2. First they had 1mil copies in mind, now they´re thinking something like 500k

Does that mean Ubi is pullin´a Extraction on Red Steel 2?

Will Red Steel 2 marketing effort be the same as Dead Space Extraction? AKA - almost none?

Will we see only a single ad for the game on IGN and then Ubi calling it a day?

And then when the game bombs Ubi blaming the wii market? Like "hardcore dont sell on wii"?

wouldn't it be pulling AN extraction? ;)

Slashing its sales prediction by half will also include the marketing.

Who cares; it's their loss. We still get to get the game.

Extraction had tons of ads on the internet. Not sure what you are talking about?  Is there seriously anyone who didn't know about it?

Must be on gaming sites that I don't visit, at all?

Or blocked by adblock, lol.

Once again, they act as if they don't want their game to succed on Wii... I've played several time the demo at games convention, and it's by far one of the most beautiful Wii game so far. They have taken the cell shading to new heights with this one. The gameplay is a bit tough though there's a learning curve for all the swordplay, but WM+ moves like the fence and powerful slashes seemed well implemented. However, some player had difficulties with it btw. I found also some problem with the on th fly recalibration. IMHO, it has all the ingredients of a very good game.

Edit : About the adds of DS:E, I live in Europe and there were no adds for this game. There had been on videogames related sites, but not at all on TV or shops. Moreover, the game was available like one week before its actual release date, and  the guy in the shop had only a few copy of them. Sorry but I can't help thinking this game was sent to die.

it did but not many people acturally cared about it including me

They more then likely slashed their predictions because there are no pre-orders. It isn't on the Amazon pre-order list and I don't see it doing any better elsewhere.

It is better for the company if they meet their expectations by lowering them then them not reaching them at all

It doesn't matter anymore. It's not like 3rd parties will base any important decisions on the sales of this game. Even if they did, that would only affect the games coming out in a year and a half or longer...
