Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Just Dance is Ubi's fastest-selling Wii title. Sequels planned

TheSource said:

Ubisoft never said the market for this type of game was drying up on Wii - they said it was drying up on DS.

That said, the game is a dance simulator. If you like dancing, you are going to like the game. Don't like dancing, you won't. This is the type of game that should never score a 2.0 because if people are buying it is clearly fun in some way, and it isn't broken.

Don't people have to buy it before they know if it's fun/broken or not?

This may surpass Carnival Games as the worst best selling game ever. Congrats Ubisoft!

tried this game yesterday, I would say that Carnival Games feels like an AAA title compares to this. Absolute trash if you ask me.

I have no idea why anybody would buy it... and frankly, buy it again

GoW2 ( expect 7 - 9 million entire life and over 2 mill first day), Fable 2 (expect 5-6 million entire life and 1.5 mill fist day) BK3 (expect 4 - 5 mill sales entire life and 1 mill first day).. Tales/IU/TLR should get to 2 or 3 million! post id: 868878
Episode 2:
Letsdance: FFXIII (PS3+360) first week in NA = 286K
According to pre-order rate in week 13 (post id: 2902544)

I predict 3 million easily. Probably cost no more than a million to make.

Throw your predictions in here, please!

I think it's laughable how people are judging this game like it's the biggest piece of crap ever. Are you guys into dancing? If not, why the hell are you even judging the damn thing? It's getting much better customer reviews than the other third party hits like Carnival Games or Deca Sports. In the end, that's all that matters

“Just Dance is Ubisoft’s fastest-selling game on Wii. It was vital for us to get it trialled by consumers. Integral to this was a strong TV campaign with major spot buys during the likes of The X Factor supported with shopping centre tours that took part around the country."

....I'm baffled as to why they don't do this with any of their "core" titles and expect the same payoff.

I cannot accept that the game is not made for me. Therefore, it deserves to fail.

Won't judge the quality without playing it. I'll just say a sequel needs a real good incentive to make the expanded audience want to buy it again.

Perhaps they should take surveys of people who bought it what would entice them to buy another one.

Imagine if they had applied the marketing with Just Dance, to No More Heroes? Because Just Dance got QUITE A BIT of marketing push behind it. Red Steel 2 has "million seller" written all over it if Ubi Soft puts some effort into the marketing.

Agreed with the bolded 10000% however, i think a large factor in Just Dance sales has 90% to do with target audience and 10% with marketing.

Watch HGTV for one evening youre bound to see 3 EA sports active commercials and a wii fit commercial. I think wii software sales have shown theres simply more users which create a higher ceiling for titles like Just Dance, Wii fit, EA Active and Carnival games.....you could have a No More Heroes commercial airing during every major network event and it isnt going to appeal to majority of people who not only own wiis but are responsible for the aforementioned games impressive sales.

If the sequel is the exact same game as the first it will bomb. A sequel will need to seriously bring something new and people made aware of the newness or it won't do well. Then Ubisoft will blame the Wii and Wii owners again.

They'd be right. It's the audiences fault for not wanting the same game over and over again. How dare they not be content hungry.

And it's the audiences fault the test games don't sell well. If the audience were just more gullible...
