Forums - Gaming Discussion - The new generation of gamers are scary!

I have been seeing this for a long time. You think this is new?
MP focused games are selling way more than SP focused ones (haven't they always?). In fact I think in a few years we're gonna see a lot more games like Warhawk, where there's no SP at all.

SP are boring in general, why play SP when we see the same thing every time.

i hope that was a joke

Nah, SP are boring.

MP is the future.

Well Coop > MP > SP

play Uncharted 2 SP

always be SP > MP

you enjoy the single player, then you do MP

(unless a COD fan, then you dont know alot about gaming) not all, but alot. and i know alot who think COD online is the only game in the world....gotta take pitty on them

I played UC2 Sp and i liked it, but its not worth buying the game over, and the MP is awful.

The only kind of SP i like are RPG's and those are rare and few. or Action/Adventure once in a while.

What exacly changes? Nowadays devs are trying so hard to create that "cinematic experience" that games are becoming so linear.

SP is predictable. You pretty much know where everything is gonna spawn. In the end, you know you're always gonna win.

You win in MP through team effort. In SP, your team is there only to make things more interesting/exciting by firing off random shots that rarely kill.

I see this everyday at school too, almost every kid I know only buys games for multiplayer and say single player games suck and are a waste of money. The most they do is rent a SP game or borrow it from a friend. When they get games like MW2 and KZ2, they don't EVER play the SP campaign and immediately start MP. It annoys the hell outta me. I use to think its because they were 360 owners and only liked FPS's, but lately my PS3 friends have started the same trend....

Is being social a bad thing now? I love that MP is becoming much more dominant now that online technology is becoming better. I have about 3-4 friends that come over to play MW2 online and we always have a blast. Funny shit happens. A match can also be extremely fun when you got multiple on mics working together.

Besides that, alot of online shooters are adopting a leveling system to reward players and keep them playing.

well, if they dont want to play the Killzone 2 SP they are insane

but lets be honist, SP in COD? if you know anthing about games, you know its crap! cod4 single player was horrible

That's not true.

play Uncharted 2 then play COD4 SP, very very bad

opinons

Uncharted 2 vs CoD4? I can't compare two different genres. That would be both pointless and foolish.

It's still your opinion I guess...

im talking about the story ark off the 2, not the gameplay

I still prefer the CoD4 SP...but I think I prefer the Uncharted 2 MP though...

Everything is mixed up ahah

I find this real funny (or maybe, more accurately, ironic) - perhaps pretty soon people who like a story/SP will find themselves in the same situation as Wii owners find themselves today - lots of developers will not want to develop their kind of games. Today lots of PS360 fans say they can't stand the thought of Wii graphics - tomorrow those of them that value a story/SP/immersiveness ("games as art") may find themselves on the wrong side of the road, with no one wanting to develop for them. Oh the irony.

Currently Playing: Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor Overclocked, Professor Layton and the Curious Village

Anticipating: Xenoblade, The Last Story, Mario Kart 7, Rayman Origins, Zelda SS, Crush3D, Tales of the Abyss 3DS, MGS:Snake Eater 3DS, RE:Revelations, Time Travellers, Professor Layton vs. Ace Attorney, Luigi's Mansion 2, MH TriG, DQ Monsters, Heroes of Ruin

No one should really worry its just over analyzing that constantly goes on on the web. I think most people didn't care about Modern Warefare's campaign (including myself) because I associate fps almost compleatly with multiplayer now. Coop campaigns are auwsome, but single player campaigns get boring fast in almost every case to me. Why worry fps are only one genre, and are the most social genre, nothing wrong with that its great. I know I never beat resistance 2 and Killzone 2's campaigns because of the lack of coop. Microsoft is better at recognizing the social aspect of fps than sony. I think sony needs to wake up and realize the most fps fans like the social aspect. This is nothing to fear if mw2 became like mag and only focused on multiplayer. At least they focus on what they do best. And there are so many fps titles coming out that there are many good single player campaigns to play that non- social single player only fanz can love and enjoy.

Hardly a good measuring for this whole generation of gamers - these guys are casuals.

I just thought of something.
There are a lot of movies that I enjoy watching alone (most of them actually), but some movies I like watching with my friends.
Action blockbuster movies = watch it with friends.
Pretty much every other genre = alone.

CoD4 SP > Uncharted 2 SP IMO

although that's slightly off topic now.

And yeah only playing multiplayer is a waste and a shame. MP is soulless and can be done by almost everyone, but creating a good story with deep characters filled with astounding music and good voice actors is the hard part of a game.
That's art. MP is not art.
