yeah...i rarely hear the same kind of comments on psn as i have on live. i think it has to do with the general lack of headsets. although on psn i tend to run across people who you can hear abusing their children..relatively often even.
funniest thing i heard on live was when i joined a match on shadowrun and two of them were arguing about how the one guys dick was too small so he couldnt fuck him in the ass.
its horrifying to hear someone hitting/yelling/swearing at their clearly young child.

Another thing you can do, and it's something I do.
Whenever people say I'm a fag, or a nigger or wtfe, AGREE WITH THEM. These people are so simple minded that if you AGREE to everything they say you are/do, they eventually stop because it isn't funny anymore.
I remember this one time the guy went on with about 10 different things about what I am/do and I kept agreeing.
"Oh you're Canadian, you're a fag"
"That's right! I'm the biggest Canadian fag there is! I take it up the ass all the time!"

And repeat until they stop, and when they do stop, remind them of how stupid they are. :D

Wait..what? I've played online multiplayer on PSN quite a bit and it's a million times better than XBL in that aspect. Why? Cuz the console doesn't come with a mic, so most people don't have one. And the kids have a hard time convincing their parents to spend even more money.
That is why I love that the PS3 doesn't come with a mic. I hope it never does. People can pay for their privilege to speak, or not speak. That's how it should be, because while some kids can convince their parents to pony up the dough, most can't. And kids are the biggest problem. Teen-adult users for the most part make their own money and can buy their own shit.

I believe his point was that since the word is not meant to imply negativity towards gays in this case, that it's not a case of homophobia, which was a word inserted into the title of this thread. Offensive still? Surely to some people, but not homophobic.

Exactly, I guess I don't wan't to come across as butthurt (no pun intended), but I do block people and whatnot. I am not so much complaining as I am asking for advice. Showing up a person THEN blocking them is more fun.
