Forums - Nintendo Discussion - 2 more third party wii games fail with sales?

Oh and not to mention the complete exclusion of the coolest part of the game. The NPC interaction. They act, and react actively to what you do. Typically the Selkies try to chase me out of their village with a vengeance. This probably relates to an incident where a few "accidentally" fell off while I happened to be in the area. Really nobodies fault but their own for standing so close to ledges. Still, they hunt me. While you can't talk to them, the level of interaction is a notch above your typical Zelda, or FF game I would say.

If thats you're standards for NPC interaction, then most games would be scored 10+. The chasing of villagers ain't even fun, its a drag, you're forced to either point, click and waggle them to the side (steal their money) and keep going, i was exploring the town, and those fat stupid ladies always get in the way its so annoying, they react whether you like it or not. To me NPC interaction is the ability to TALK to people and learn more about the town, sidequests, making me feel that i'm in the shoes of the hero, and pointing and clicking , and then wagglin people just doesn't do it, while your entitled to your opinion, you're clearly full of BS when you claim that the level of interaction is above a typical zelda or FF game.

While the combat was interesting and some of the minigames were quite flashy (particularly the last boss) I have to disagree.

The game can be longer, and I mention that there are alot of side quest type things to take up your time if you so care to, but adding that still doesn't add up to a good value for a game that's most closely related to Zelda (which are the gold standard for value for such a game and have far more value)

And I definitely don't agree that the game looks beautiful.  There are a few cool visuals aesthetically, but technically the game is nothing amazing, and the sometimes atrocious dialogue/voiceacting helped bring the presentation back down to 7.0

Yet you complain about the combat, and give it no praise for where it works extremely well. And when it works, it is a fucking blast. Instead you trash it for the low points.

My problem with your length is it is entirely inconsistent with the text of the review. You say you got lost (despite the game being completely linear), and did side quests and yet beat the game in 9 hours. Without getting lost, and not goofing off I am at 11. I could have shaved maybe an hour or two off by catching a train here or there, but no way 9 hours to beat it unless you are trying to beat it as fast as humanly possible. The text and the numbers just don't add up on that one.

The voice acting is also not terrible as you seem to imply, nor is the dialogue. It is standard Square Enix quality. Yes it is absolutely atrocious compared to other media, but compared to video games it is absolutely fine.

the combat is the worst thing about the game if you ask me, i don't know how you guys can find it fun, when all you do is point, click, and waggle up , left, or right. No experience rewards are given, only medals (which are useless), though life expansions are given. The exploration aspect is the best thing about the game, and i do agree that the game looks beautiful compared to wii games, but below par FF XII

Honestly playing both games on a nice HDTV and I'd have to say FFCC looks a lot like FFXII with more size and scale and more things going on at once, so I could see it being called on par for style, but scale, effects, and such it looks better and its obvious.

MaxwellGT2000 - "Does the amount of times you beat it count towards how hardcore you are?"

Wii Friend Code - 5882 9717 7391 0918 (PM me if you add me), PSN - MaxwellGT2000, XBL - BlkKniteCecil, MaxwellGT2000

Basically every Nintendo developed game I have played looks better. Those are the standard I go by for what's the best of the best for the console.

The game looks miles better than Twilight Princess. I can't think of another Nintendo made game that comes close to a comparable art stye. I could throw out ridiculous stuff like Wario Ware: Smooth Moves, Super Paper Mario, Wii *, and more as counters, but since you are still being incredibly vague I will let the comments stand for themselves.

@Ari_Gold
I put actually actions, and reactions miles above "Welcome to Corneria! Did you know an evil wizard lives in the castle?" I know there is an evil wizard in the castle. The 5 other jack-offs said the exact same thing. Interaction means I do something, and they respond. My actions actually change how the NPCs feel. I spend my time getting balloons for kids in the Lilty town just so they like me. I torment Selkies so they attack me. How is that worse than "I heard that when the legendary evil awakes, so does the legendary hero!"

The question that comes to my mind about the sales of this games is, if the games are so great that all the "core" gamers bitching out for not selling because they are on they wii, why they do not buy them?

If you care so much for wii 3rd party support and you missing out so much for not playing FFCC:TCB and SH:SM why simply don't you go out and buy them?

They both fall into the usual categories for games in general that are known to not sell.

Crystal Bearers fell into the bad spin off catrgeory

SH fell into the niche category

its not, NPD has Shattered memories Under 50 k for the the 5 week period of December-Jan, and VGC has it overtracked by more than 100%, with over 100k sales for the same period. So Unless Canada and Mexico accounted for 100 % more sales than the US market, which is just pure lunacy, then we could agree, thus the game is overtracked period, as is the case with many wii exlusives.

The numbers have been adjusted from NPD.

If the figures "leaked" from the NeoGAF NPD thread are accurate, they may need further adjustment.
