Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Damage control to the third party clamor threads.

With all the clamor about the third-party statements and debates over whether they are scaling back on support or abandoning the Wii (the latter of which I don't really see, given that there ARE some third-party titles coming this year that I'm looking forward to), I'm surprised that only one person paid attention to the one level-headed, damage-control-like post that I tried to come up with, my views concerning where the 3rd parties are going to.

CAPCOM: They said they were scaling back. They didn't say they were dropping Wii support. They've still got TvC, MH3. And, from the looks of it, both are going to be advertised.

KONAMI: Well, they DID give us some high quality "Rebirths" via WiiWare, and they DID give a solid SILENT HILL SHATTERED MEMORIES (which seems to be doing decent if unspectacular sales). I don't see these guys going away.

SQUARE-ENIX: Hard to say. Their development support has been quite erratic over the years. They did release CRYSTAL BEARERS this year, but that title split audiences. They're still onboard for DQX, though, so I don't see them going away.

SEGA: They may have said no more M-rated games, but they're not dropping Wii either. They're just "scaling back".

E-A: Iffy, because I don't know about them.

NAMCO: They've done Tales of Graces for Wii. What else will happen from them remains to be seen.

So while I DO see some scaling back in terms of Wii development from third-parties, I don't see it going away altogether; there's quite a bit of games coming this year from 3rd-parties (granted, they were released about over a year ago, but that's better than nothing.)

Oops, double-post.  Sorry about that.

All those games you listed are released or to long in development tocancel if they wanted, alot of the fuss is about the future announces for the Wii

DQ X should do well enough in Japan alone so Square Enix shouldn't scale back.

Buying in 2015: Captain toad: treasure tracker,

mario maker

new 3ds

yoshi woolly world

zelda U

majora's mask 3d

Pretty much agree.
They may be lowering it, but it isn't going away altogether.

Well the fact that 2010 has only started has caused me to be a little more "wait and see" about this, for I don't wanna be overly optimistic that things will take a 180 turn in favor of the Wii, but I don't want to be all doom and gloom either.  It annoys me when people say that Wii has no third-party games coming this year, a) because a lot of them ARE, in fact, coming this year, and b) We haven't even heard.  Now granted, last year wasn't exactly a rosy year for 3rd-parties on Wii, but we don't know how this year will turn out.  If anything, I think I want to hold off on making any predictions.

I know it would be nice if Wii had the same support as XBox360 and PS3, but not all of its third party titles are shovelware.  It is unfortunate that many of them didn't find the audience they should have, but considering that these two HD systems are more risky, cost-wise, and the Wii is the least expensive of the three, I don't see a complete abandonment.

Now granted I don't know what other ambitious projects are in store for Wii, but I'd rather wait until E3 than worry over ranting threads.  THEN we'll see what will happen.

I agree again if E3 comes and nothing noticeable from 3rd parties then it would be time to worry

Yea, I don't really get all this whining about third party abandoning the Wii either. It seems like this year will be the best in terms of third party support, so all this complaining is just unwarranted.
