What I got out of it was that Nintendo is making the most money but putting forth the least effort at least in the past year. After producing a number of golden geese, according to the OP, Nintendo is notably less interested in producing the sort of quality games in the sort of volume Nintendo fans took for granted.

Then again, since Nintendo is mopping the floor with everyone else when they're not trying, I guess every non-Nintendo game developer prays every night that they don't ever start trying.

The point is most of you are lost in your logic.
Nintendo has left the Hardcore! What is the Hardcore. What is casual! Those words are not even being use correctly.

What's the difference between a person who plays Wii Sports, Madden, of Modern Warefare everyday. Nothing! The both play them at extreme levels or hardcore.
What about a person who plays Wii Music, LBP, and Killzone once a week. Nothing they all casually play those games.

Then you have games like Madden and NFL Blitz. They are both Football games. One could be consider a hardcore version because of the extra options, and more depth with gameplay. The other could be called casual for not having that many options.

Nintendo is still making all the same games. They made in the past. They have even have created new games this gen.
So most of you are really crying about not having More Mature Games.
Nintendo do not make Mature games. They never have and never will. If would be like Disney making a real japanese anime. They are just not going to do it.
So you only hope for games like that. Will come from 3rd Parties. Which will not even try to make great games like that. The decent games that come out Wii owners will not even buy it.

Wii Gamers would not buy Madworld. Too short to niche.
Deep Space and Resident Evil because they are On Rail Shooters.
Every other games that was released by 3rd parties. The Core or experience Wii gamers would not buy them. Because of their experience. So if your experience then you should know better. You should know what to expect from Nintendo.
If you out grown Nintendo then move on. Like most did during the N64/PS1 and Cube/PS2.
The point is you guys left and now you back. You thought that Nintendo was going to follow the lead of the others. Now that they are on top again.
So it's your fault for all this assumptions. Nintendo has been the same for 20 plus year. Your the one that change. Deal with it or move on. Either way stop bitching.

People bring up why we don't have games like Uncharted 2 and Killzone.
What your really saying is. You want a 1st Person shooter, and a adventure game.
Nintendo doesn't make 1PS, and have not made a adventure game other than Zelda.
Also are those games really that great. According to the sales charts not really. That's a entirely different subject all together.
Nintendo has Star Fox, F Zero, Pilotwings, Wave Race, Custom Robo, and Pikmin left.
They have created new franchise like. Wii Music Wii Sports Wii Fit and Endless Ocean
They brought back others like PunchOut, Excite Truck/Bike. and Wario Platformer Game.
Japan has even gotten new games, Captain Rainbow , and Zangeki no Reginleiv to name a few.
You guys are acting like Nintendo has done anything.
Oh didn't mention that we will be getting another 3d Mario, Zelda, and New Metroid adventure.
Like I stated before. Most of you have changed in the style of games you like. Odds are Nintendo will never meet your desires. So please jump ship. The new wave of rookie/ so called casual gamers will take you place. Something I wouldn't mine at all.

Give this man/woman a noble prize for bringing sense to a tradgic thread.

You win a COOKIE:)

IGN is wrong. very wrong. And they always will be.

What i think is funny is that you're telling me that i don't know what i like. That's an insult.
The wii not only has a plethora of fantastic games, it's reliable. Yes, the 360 has tons of AAA games and Live provides a very robust online experience. What good is all this, though, if I would have to send my system in to get repaired every year or so for the same problem every time (worst-case scenario)?
All 3 consoles are fantastic machines. They have their strengths and weaknesses. You aren't wrong if you think the Wii's online system could be better. I, however, couldn't care less for it. Don't ever tell me that I'm wrong for believing that. I prefer local multiplayer, and as far as anyone is concerned there should be nothing wrong with that, so just back the hell off.

I am not trying to tell someone that they are wrong. I am trying to tell people that even if you may think against the people at IGN, I think they are right. This thread is to convince you guys that yes, Nintendo is lazy and is not putting the same efforts as before.

Nintendo used to revolutionize gaming through games such as super mario 64 and ocarina of time. They continued to set a standard in genres with games like Mario Galaxy and Brawl. They just have not done that with Mario Bros. Even though NSMBWii is ana amazing game no doubt, I believe it could have been a lot better. That game, if Nintendo put  the "Nintendo" effort, could have been groundbreaking. Adding just 4 player action is all they have done since the last Mario game that is worth noting. Adding a couple new suits isn't that shocking.

Nintendo used to revolutionize gaming, but that is not possible nowadays. I want them to set new standards with games like SMG2 and Zelda Wii and M:OM.

I AM EXTREMELY SORRY TO PEOPLE THAT GOT OFFENDED BY THE TITLE. I DID NOT MEAN ANY HARM. I JUST WANTED TO TELL YOU GUYS WHAT I THOUGHT WAS THE TRUTH.

NSMBWii is what it is. Its a fantastic game based on a formula that works great. Nothing more nothing less. Its the essence of fun.

Nintendo has done a lot to revolutionize gaming this gen, way more than the HD twins IMHO and MHO only. But no your right NSMBWii is not revolutionary.

And please dont be sorry. I cant speak for everyone but i go no problem with you, or really anyone on this site. What i DO have a problem with is IGN. These scum bags keep telling us happy Wii owners what WE should like. And when there trolling has no effect they attack us on a personal level. Nintendo is lazy and you dont care. Your blinded by the Mario name. Im not suposed to get upset with shit like this? they are basicly telling me, and all Wii owners, that we are stupid, gulible, fools, and have no taste for "good" games. These ideas fail on so many levels it makes me sick.

Thats my stance.

"Nintendo is lazy and is not putting the same efforts as before."

No, you and IGN are narrowly defining effort as putting in loads of graphics and features. Nintendo is making the games as best as they can, but also trying not to spend too much time and money, as the HD systems prove they don't increase sales or profits. That's not effort to spend 4 years and $50 million on a game. That's just overkill.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

Plus, just for the hell of it: Kelly Brook at the 2008 BAFTAs

All this talk of being lazy when you look at the games Nintendo's first party has released on the Wii compared to previous consoles it becomes a bit laughable as the are more first party efforts on the Wii then the GC and N64, laziness is what most third party efforts have shown. The quality of the first party titles hasn't gone down at all despite the number of titles increasing, it seems to me a lot of people don't know what laziness is.

so nintendo doesnt take risks? Isn't the Wii itself a risk? Isn't the DS itself a risk?

i'm tired of these websites telling me what i should want as if i cant decide myself. I  love my wii and I know what it can and cant do. its amazing how people talk about innovation on the PS3 and 360 and only point at sequels that dont really bring anything new besides prettier visuals and better online. i'm still waiting on that FPS that dethrones Corruption for innovation. it hasnt happened yet and probably wont. You either like what the wii offers or you dont. why complain about it? plenty of people do, its the reason its leading by such a large margin. Its the best system this gen for multiplayer. it brings people together.
