You have to realize it's just the preorders for one store chain, fluctuations can occur. There's a number of factors that could account for the drop, including switching preorder to the limited edition, another store with better preorder bonus or cheaper price, or just switching to a different game altogether. Tbone likely has it spot on that some people are just wanting something coming out sooner than half a year with so many great games on the horizon.

There's still a couple models left, but yeah almost all Vitas are sold out on Amazon.

Because each model says who it's sold by, and there's plenty of overcharging vendors on the Amazon marketplace. But Amazon itself is sold out. They don't charge above retail price. If you see ￥ 19,980 (crossed out retail price) that's Amazon's listing.
