Forums - Gaming Discussion - King of the RPGs : PS3 or 360 ?

DS for sure.

Home consoles, well the 360 has Mass Effect and since Mass Effect > all comers, then 360 for me!

all depends on what types of RPG's u are looking for

For WRPG's id go with 360/PC
For JRPGs id go with PS3/DS/PSP

I think "King" is a pretty strong word to address the RPG situation on any home console this generation.

This. It all comes down to personal preference this gen (so far anyway). I vote for PS3 as it has Demon's Souls and Valkyria Chronicles but I can easily see how others would give it to the 360 with Mass Effect and Fable.

I think he meant that no home consoles this generation has a good enough RPG lineup against the handhelds and PC, therefore no home console should be the "King of RPGs".

Yeah fair enough, I thought that might actually be what he meant. My reply was just referring to the 360/PS3 discussion. Although in my opinion, the 360 and PS3 have far better quality RPGs than the handhelds. Can't really comment on the PC as I don't really follow games on it anymore.

Nintendo DS ._.

First off anything below 70 is crap and therefore not worth mentioning in a comparison of best RPG.

Secondly Tales of Vesperia has been released for the PS3 in Japan and since this isn't exclusively American released games it should be included for PS3

Thirdly Star Ocean 4 will have an international release for the PS3

The problem with your cut off is that 2 of the 5 best 360 games, last remnant and Too human, scored in the 60s.

DS!

360 has an amazing library and has my vote currently, however, the PS3 is gaining ground.

If you own both, you should be an extremely happy gamer.

DS is the RPG King....just FYI

My thought as well.

They're competing more for like... regent of a backwater territory nobody wants to live in.

Heh, this.  Like with most of everything coming from Japan this gen, they're competing to be 'king' of second place.  Where the handhelds (mostly DS) already proved to be king long ago.  And even then, by the end of this generation, it may be arguable that Wii overtook them.

Well if we counted all the PC games the 360 got, then 360 sure would have an advantage.

Six upcoming games you should look into:

The Conduit : I included games reviewed in North America and Europe, not only Japanese only, so Tales will be added to the list somewhere in the time. And I know that most RPGs below 70 are crap but it was just to make a list of every RPGs avaible for both console

And of course this thread was about home console, not handheld (even if I know DS has a pretty strong line-up of RPGs )
