Forums - Gaming Discussion - Will Bioshock 2 get a 98 or higher on metacritics?

After all I've read so far about Bioshock 2, I'm not interested in the game.
According to recent news, the game is more linear. I personnaly don't care about the multiplayer add on. The graphics are the same, there's no really improvement from the first one.

I have really enjoyed Bioshock, it was a shock the first time I played, but I found that the game was a bit repetitive.

time will tell.

No, it won't

Besides, I think that the first was a little overrated. Very good game, but the enemies were very limited in variety, and the plot just fucked up at one point (you know what point).

I think Starcraft II will be the highest rated game this year. Bioshock 2 will land around the 90 mark when all is said and done, I think.
Reviewers will see through the game for what it is; more of the same, and another 12-15 hours of Bioshock might reveal that the recipe is flawed, the first one wasn't exactly big on variation and no amount of great SFX or atmosphere could cover up the incredibly repetitive nature of the enemies and environments. I also think many will have gripes with what appears to be painstakingly slow gameplay and movement (I hated wearing the Big Daddy suit on the first one, it took forever to go anywhere).
Bioshock 2 will suffer the same fate as F.E.A.R 2; it will be called out on not only its own flaws, but those of the prequel as well.

PS: In case it wasn't abundantly clear from the above, I am not very excited at all for this game nor did I love the first one.

No, when Bioshock came out standards were lower for HD games, the bar has been raised several times since then and people won't be easily impressed anymore.

No I reckon it'll score 92 - 94. The initial WOW factor has gone.

i say it can do 99

I agree that score will hover around 92% give or take around 2 percentage points. I think some quality points fell through the cracks when the game changed development hands several times.

Wow, jkfm, you need to get a grip. You're the only one I see being snappy and defensive in here.

At least somebody else sees it. I mean, what did I say so wrong in my first post? And so many others have said similar things, yet he gets only on my case?

Oh well, it's just derailing his thread at this point, so I'll leave it be.

I'll bite, saying "get over it" sounds very harsh & rude sometimes, thats why he thought you were being snappy

on the other hand I completely agree with you CGI

@Jman

not a chance in dante's hell!

Why? well its hard to work the same magic again

Also first few reviews indicate low 90's

98 is a LEGENDARY status hardly ANY games get at all...you ened LUCK & need to come at the right time to do that

All hail the KING, Andrespetmonkey

I personally didn't care for Bioshock, and I think the sequel will be rated much lower than the original, as many of the original's unique concepts won't be so unique now (the illusion of choice, the genral setting, etc.). For similar reasons the unique and innovative Patapon scored considerably higher than its sequel. I see Bioshock 2 barely breaking a 90 average.

As for whether it's the highest rated game of 2010, I think the following will score higher:

Super Mario Galaxy 2
Zelda Wii
Halo: Reach
Gran Turismo 5
God of War III

And maybe Metroid and the Last Guardian. The former could go either way with Team Ninja's involvement, and the latter titles generally receive somewhat mixed scores.
