And Little to no marketing what so ever

Boy is that list ever awful. Ubisoft is just an awful developer. Even their 'good' games are barely ok. Like Rabbids go Home, yeah it's alright, but I'm too poor (and picky) to buy 'alright' games.

Currently playing: NSMB (Wii)

Waiting for: Super Mario Galaxy 2 (Wii), The Last Story (Wii), Golden Sun (DS), Portal 2 (Wii? or OSX), Metroid: Other M (Wii),
... and of course Zelda (Wii)

Wii market share < 50 %

AC2 - 5.7 million
MW2 - 14.9 million
GTA4 - 13.8 million

NMH - .47 million
MW - .4 million
Conduit - .38 million

...I don't think companies are worried looking at those numbers.

Rising dev increases? Yeah... maybe next gen but this gen they are lowering. Dev kits are lowering... engines are lowering... how much one person can do in a certain time period is increasing...

Spin... spin... spin... Many big named publishers have been riding the Wii lately... no matter what... losing support is not a positive thing... I love how when activision was hell bent on Ps3 price drop everyone was up in arms about it... just 1 developer bluffing to get more money... no one followed suit... But now that its the wii its okay?

LOL GTA cost $100 million. Modern Warfare 2's advertising campaign eclipses those 3 games budgets combined

Leatherhat on July 6th, 2012 3pm. Vita sales:"3 mil for COD 2 mil for AC. Maybe more. "  thehusbo on July 6th, 2012 5pm. Vita sales:"5 mil for COD 2.2 mil for AC."

Looking at those numbers they aren't, but looking at their internal numbers of how much development costs and marketing are for the HD consoles, I am certain they are very worried. Most titles on HD are not MW2 or GTA4.

Obviously these businesses know more than you
... if they are saying HD is the way to go and Wii isn't then I don't think they are too worried about dev costs... your right... not every game has those budgets. Some have the budgets of Wii games... those only sell a measly 3 million after a year though. /rolls eyes

If that were true, then why are studios closing downs? why are nearly all big name publishers (excluding Nintendo and Activision) revising their predicted earnings? why is the Wii still not dead, like the 'fad' it was called by these companies? It seems a certain blogger knows more about business than each and every one of these companies put together.

I love how every developer that doesn't support the Wii fully are utter shit. Boycott confirmed?

The sad reality is HD is not the way to go and they know it, because they've all lost bucketloads on HD games that didn't perform.   But a hit HD game can make a lot of money, and they understand the market so everyone is going to try to make home run hit AAA games and only home run hits.   In otherwords fewer games for everyone and a lot more sequels of popular titles.      This would not seem like a bad thing, but if all titles are scoring 90's, there's only so many gamer dollars to go around and some of those awesome titles will flop and a couple flops like that can devastate even the biggest publishers.    It's a very dangerous game and some 3rd party developers are going to be driven out of business by it.

On the flip side, it opens the Wii market to creative independent studios.

Wii fans:

They're only hurting themselves! They'll lose more money elsewhere because of sky high development costs! Wii is the way to go!

PS3/360 fans:

Anything not Nintendo sells like crap on Wii! Just makes games for ps3/360! It's the obvious choice!

Reality:

This gen is not like last gen. Last gen developers could focus all their efforts on one primary platform, occasionally porting to others for some extra cash. This gen a choice has to be made, and it isn't an easy decision in the slightest. Developers more often than not are losing out on both sides of the fence because of a split market, and it seems that most of the big publishers are choosing to stick with what they know rather than charting new territory with the Wii.

I've posted this on the other threaad abot this subject, don't know which is the one that's more relevant so I'll repost:

Last year most of the big third party companies "admitted" how wrong they were about ignoring the Wii and commited to quality support. Now a year later after no quality support, they cry because their smelly and poisonous turds didn 't sell and threaten Nintendo they will go away. Just go away and eat your own turds.

We know so far that Sega, Capcom, Ubisoft and EA will focus on the HD consoles from now on.
But we also know that Konami, Namco Bandai, Square Enix and Activision haven't announced anything notable for the Wii since 2008 and most of their big games are heading towards the HD consoles as well as all their recent announcements. Nintendo can say good bye to 3rd party quality support for the Wii from the big companies. Maybe they should try and destroy them by buying them and letting them die or just release countless 1st party games to drown them, as well as help the smaller companies.

Disaster has occured for Nintendo, next gen might be catastrophical for them or for 3rd parties.

I think some of the impact of this is ... well, it's not brought to light in what you say, quite.

The demographic split? That isn't something inherent to the consoles. Gamers followed the games on both sides.
