Forums - Gaming Discussion - What was the best game of the decade?

There were so many ties and I might have lost an exact count but I tried to include only one games in a series to keep it balanced. Hence Wind Waker in and Twilight Princess out............ If i could put more than six choices i would but six is the limit i got to work with.

FFIX came out in 2000 correct? so yeah, that one :)

Halo 2. Revolutionized online gaming for consoles. Really the standard for online games for several years. Matchmaking system is still one of the best

I mostly play RTS and Moba style games now adays as well as ALOT of benchmarking. I do play other games however such as the witcher 3 and Crysis 3, and recently Ashes of the Singularity. I love gaming on the cutting edge and refuse to accept any compromises. Proud member of the Glorious PC Gaming Master Race. Long Live SHIO!!!!

My top 5, not in order, would be:

- Call of Duty 4. It wasn't revolutionary in any way, but was certainly evolutionary. Notice how since CoD4 most shooters have tried to be like Call of Duty?

- The Sims. I think this game was 2000's right? Or was it late 90's? I dunno either way this is one of the best PC games ever.

- Gran Turismo 3. Probably the best game in the GT series, which happens to be the best driving simulator franchise ever.

- Halo CE. This game proved console FPS games can work and started the awesome control scheme that has been used ever since. Has massively better controls than Goldeneye on the N64.

- Fallout 3. Probably the best RPG I've ever played and the most fun. I'd play this over Final Fantasy any day.

Shadow of the colossus

Overall, Shadow of the Colossus or Portal. Essentially two perfect video games.

If I factor in gameplay more heavily, a bevy of options appear like KOTOR, SMG, RE4, etc. It's a long list.

Half-Life 2
Metroid Prime Trilogy
Super Mario Galaxy

Super Mario Galaxy, God of War, Pikmin, Majora's Mask, Twilight Princess, MGS3, Uncharted 2

Those are the revolutionnary games of the decade.

Rome total war
This game fulfilled all my dreams of an almost perfect strategy game.

"They will know heghan belongs to the helghast"

"England expects that everyman will do his duty"

"we shall fight on the beaches, we shall fight on the landing grounds, we shall fight in the fields and in the streets, we shall fight in the hills; we shall never surrender"

No offense but I look at that list and see a dearth of revolution.

God of War is a button-masher. Those have been around forever. SMG is a Wiimote version of M64. MGS3 is MGS2 with more controls. Uncharted 2 is exactly like Uncharted or any other third person adventurer, just better done than most. MM and TP are straight rips from OoT. Pikmin is, well, Pikmin... Unusual but not exactly revolutionary.

They're all good to great games but I don't see how any of them are really "revolutionary".
