Forums - Sales Discussion - EA gives numbers breakdown by console and retailer F the NPD

Parokki your absolutely right. I never thought about the fact that although they have swallowed some awesome companies they aren't known for the absolute gems that come around from time to time.

Unlike lots of others I don't EA. Their games are nearly always solid and have high production values and although I value the Capcom's, Nintendo's and Valve's of the world much much more, I admit to owning and enjoying some of their massive stables of games. Don't hate the player, hate the game!

Instead of seeking to convince others, we can be open to changing our own minds, and seek out information that contradicts our own steadfast point of view. Maybe it’ll turn out that those who disagree with you actually have a solid grasp of the facts. There’s a slight possibility that, after all, you’re the one who’s wrong.

And people wonder why EA favour the 360 over the PS3 (at least in the US - this is US only, right?).

More than 10x their revenue comes from the 360 than it does from the PS3.

Probably going to see more wii exclusives from ea like my sims, given that the sports games aren't what is brining them revenue on the wii

Well the 360 already has the big sports crowd on it and most EA games unique to the Wii are crap, so its no surprise really.

Sadly, we don't have the interestineg numbers. Cost. That's what i hate about companys. It's revenue, revenue, revenue... even though it means nothing.

That's because inside very 360 owner's soul there lies a deep dark void, and they must fill it with a never-ending flow of games. But it won't work. You can't cure NOTHINGNESS.

You should just buy a 360 and get it over with.

There must be some mistake in those numbers, because the PS3 numbers just can't be right. Madden alone sold 336k units on PS3 in august according to NPD and NCAA Football 08 PS3 sold 156k units in july. Those numbers are part of the 3 months ending on september 2007 and added together account for around 500k units sold. And that doesn't include sales on any other title or of sales of the mentioned titles in the next months. Multiplying the 500k units by their full retail price would put it at 30M revenue already. So maybe Gamasutra or EA made some mistake, but 17M revenue for PS3 titles just can't be correct.

So why don't they break down the cost by platform? This would make the numbers alot more meaningful. Revenue is great, but profit is obviously what matters here.
