Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Platinum Games interested in MadWorld sequel

Even if they develop a new Madworld, they didn't say it will be for Wii or Nintendo console, maybe can be HD exclusive...I don't really think that would improve the sales (still is selling well) but the partnership with sega and the not really great sales of the original game are not good points for a Wii game.

They did have good words fopr the Wii, possibly implying that the sequel (if it happens) would be on the Wii. Anyway they have experience developing for the Wii and experience developing for the 360, they could make it multi-platform.

Currently Playing: Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor Overclocked, Professor Layton and the Curious Village

Anticipating: Xenoblade, The Last Story, Mario Kart 7, Rayman Origins, Zelda SS, Crush3D, Tales of the Abyss 3DS, MGS:Snake Eater 3DS, RE:Revelations, Time Travellers, Professor Layton vs. Ace Attorney, Luigi's Mansion 2, MH TriG, DQ Monsters, Heroes of Ruin

Yes, maybe, I'm more confident on this than on big third parties saying they'll try to find a new market into the Wii audience...still I'm not sure we're speaking of this gen.

CURRENTLY PLAYING: Xenoblade (Wii), Super mario 3D land (3DS), Guild Wars (PC)

Platinum Games are owned by Sega these days.

I don't believe so. I think they just have a contract with Sega. If I remember correctly they are on contract to make 5 games for Sega to publish.

Sega doesn't own Platinum Games, but Sega does own MadWorld, Bayonetta and Infinite Space.  And the unanounced 4th game (Mikami horror title).

If Platinum wanted to make MadWorld 2, they'd need Sega's okay to do it.  It could still be published by someone else though, like how Q Entertainment selfpublished Rez HD.

I would definitely buy a sequel. The original is fun, but like the other comments posted, it gets repetitive and it's too short. That being said, there's plenty that can be added/changed to make a far superior sequel, and I'd like to see Platinum get the chance to do just that. Kind of like Red Steel/Red Steel 2 (well, hopefully, since it hasn't released yet).

Bah!

Nice news

The thing is there games have ever sold. Godhand was a flop, Okami was a flop on ps2(they didn't make the wii version), viewitful joe was a flop, and Madworld didn't sell much. These guys don't make mainstream games. They make artistic games that the mass won't buy.

They need to make a competely new game on the way that the masses would buy. Madworld 2 will sale less than the first.

Madworld is a good game, just not for everyone, i'm interested in a Madworld sequel. Please add Online-Co Op :)

How come so many games we've decided to be bombed are suddenly a success now?

Did it really sell ok ?

I have absolutely loved Viewtiful Joe, Okami, and MadWorld. Now that Capcom owns Viewtiful Joe and Okami and is pimping them out, I will gladly pay full price for their first sequel as an independent studio. I love these guys. Great news!
