I think nintendo charecters are not memroable. They don't really have much personality really

mario and luigi? Please, ash and pikachu are the only ones which an actual friendship/storyline.
To give an example, Mario and luigi are as much of a team as mario and toad, or luigi and peach.

Secondly, they are not a team. Luigi is just an alt color backup for mario just in case mario gets sick before a performance.
