HVS. Anywho, ain free radical now crytek uk? Also what happened with monolith? Monolith is awesome.

Yeah Free Radical is now with Crytek cause of financial issues, Nintendo buying them is basically just buying the good Rare talent back, which might be great for some people wanting a new DKC game, but after the money sink they turned out to be in their later years with Nintendo I doubt that could ever happen especailly now they're with Crytek.

As for Monolith, they were bought by Nintendo, made Disaster Day of Crisis, which came out everywhere but in America cause NoA said they wanted it to be improved, same with Fatal Frame 4.  Monolith is currently on Monado (sp?) which is an RPG, looks kinda like phantasy star to me.

I could see Nintendo maybe shelling out to secure a small western studio like Next Level. They've worked pretty well together on Mario Strikers and Punch-Out (both critically and commercially), I can see Nintendo furthering the relationship and sealing the deal. Especially now that NST's seemed to have imploded.

Outside that though, I can't think of anyone Nintendo would really be interested in buying out. Nintendo generally seems to prefer starting up new studios with key talent (Brownie Brown, Genius Sonority, Project Sora, etc), maybe they should throw some cash Mikami's way or Matsuno's way and start up some new "mature focused" studios? Hell, Nintendo could probably buy back the Ogre IP for Matsuno if he wanted it too.

no, nintendo need to sort their own teams out, they are so inefficient.

sony has insoniac doing a game a year and naughty dog a game every 2 years. microsoft has epic and lionhead basically doing a game every 2 years.

for nintendo, their studios seem to take forever to make games. They need to speed up dev time or at leats give us a clearer picture of what their teams are working on

no, I don't want Nintendo to acquire any studios. I'd rather them hire more young innovative workers and cultivate new development teams. This way they create new IPs and more internal studios that will produce Nintendo quality titles. Not only that, but it would be a lot cheaper. Sure it would take longer, but the overall effect would be better.

No thanks. Nintendo neglects almost every studio they aquire, to the point of games bombing beyond belief (ExciteBots, Disaster, Fatal Frame 4, etc.)

Chrizum, are you sure these are Nintendo acquired studios? I thought Nintendo were only the distributor for these titles, not the owner of the studios...

Tecmo (Fatal Frame) was not acquired, but Monster Games and Monolith are, I think. Regardless, the philosophy still stands. Nintendo has bought the Fatal Frame IP, and deliberately killed it. That's not what I'd call good support for third party franchises.

Uh...they didn't buy the Fatal Frame IP. They just published Fatal Frame IV.

No soriku they really do own the IP now, that why Tecmo can't release without Nintendo's okay. Also monster games is not own  by Nintendo here is the link for Monster Games on wiki LINK

Also for soriku here is the page for NINTENDO BUYING THE FRANCHISE Link

The reason it takes Nintendo longer to develop games is because of their policy to not release games unless their perfect.

I read a rumor that Pilotwings Wii by Factor 5 was finished but Ninty refused to release it since it was bad.

I think Ninty should build development teams from the ground up and expand their existing teams with more talent. I also hope Nintendo doesnt try to emulate western developers with their male power I'm-a-bad-ass type games. Ninty should stick to their innovated, light hearted games. That is why I think Ninty is so successful because everyone else are making those games which whereas Ninty has less competition with their type of games.

I'd like a better link that a blog post.

Same here. I can find tons of websites, like this one, where Reggie claims that Nintendo isn't the publisher, but instead Tecmo is. However, I can find equally as many links that show were Tecmo claims Nintendo is the publisher.

Well I checked three big sites and wikipedia...ign believes nintendo bought the franchise (rumor never proven or unproven)and there article in nintendo power saying saying the same thing in 2008.Wikipedia says Tecmo still owns the ip but Nintendo owns international publishing rights to Fatal Frame IV....

You're right, this is maybe the most important thing to do... but why could they not do everything?

Create new teams is a must when you only have 4000 employees, so true, but if they also buy some talented 2nd parties and make some deals with the best 3rd parties, then the line-up will GREATLY improve, in both quantity and quality, and in close future as well as in distant future (which then means, next gen)...

I'd like to see a less "passive" Nintendo anyway... they're givin' the impression to be glad with their own sales, and to no commit to anything happening in the industry around them: i'd wish to see a Nintendo tryin' to associate more and more people to their success, not only the very small indie teams on Wiiware and DSiware, but also some bigger teams (not the other giants, the ones "in between") on the retail market...

They have made nearly 20 billions of profits in the last 5 years, i just hope they'll make a great use of these to prepare the future, not only their own future, but also the future of the industry, especially in Japan where things are gettin' critical due to a population gettin' older and a shrinking market...

It's nice to know that Yamauchi-san (owner of 51% of Nintendo's shares) is now one of the richest man in Japan, but if that's the only good thing about Nintendo making billions, then i see no reason to care, AT ALL... i hope you see my point...  :)

and an ugly drawing in 1080p will stay ugly forever..."

Nintendo = goku
Sega = Vegeta
Combined = Gogeta

This is the only correct answers imo;)
