Forums - Sony Discussion - Heavy Rain being played in a Movie Theatre

http://www.3news.co.nz/Heavy-Rain-merges-film-and-game-like-never-before/tabid/892/articleID/136320/Default.aspx

Lucky bastard. Imagine being able to play the entire game on the big screen like that.

Good bit of mainstream media promotion for the game too.

Maybe this should be in the official thread, but I thought it would get lost in there so I gave it a thread of its own. Sorry if that is naughty.

The barrier between movie and game has been shattered.

Pixel Art can be fun.

That's the kind of promotion this game needs if it wants to get people who don't traditionally play a lot of games. If they make it seem more like a movie that you control, it'll draw in some of the 'popcorn' crowd.

Could I trouble you for some maple syrup to go with the plate of roffles you just served up?

Can't wait to see how S.T.A.G.E spins this one...

that sounds like a horrible idea.

1) it will be confusing and asinine having so many people controlling one game

2) what the fuck kind of theater is that? there's like, 12 seats in that room. we dont even have theaters like that over here in america. are you telling me we are going to fill up a 200+ seat room with people playing 1 video game??

3) the graphics are pretty underwhelming and that game looks dull as hell. I dont see how it will compare to real movies

4) how can it be called a video game when you cant die?? I know, it would suck to be stuck in the theater for an hour trying to beat a certain part. the way they set this up fixes that problem but it eliminates all challenge.

5) I can see why they set it up the gameplay this way but its more like a "choose your own adventure" story than an actualy game. this doesnt need to be a video game in any way. they might as well use real actors.

6) what if someone decides to be a douche and pick all the wrong answers? theres no safeguard against that.

7) am I really going to pay 7 or 8 dollars to play a game for 2 hours? who the hell is willing to do that?

8) I dont want to hold controllers that hundreds of other people just used. thats gross. also, controllers are bound to get dinged up and worn out by careless A-holes and the cost of replacing these controllers will be tremendous

there you go. 8 reasons why this idea is a fail. i could probably think of more too.

Did you have a bad day?

I've been trying to get into Indigo Prophecy to get ready for Heavy rain, but the controls on the PC just don't make sense, been pressing every button to try to figure out what to do in the very first room you start in for ages :/

Did you not do the tutorial?  It isn't that complex, really.
