Both titles are often compared to know know what franchise is more popular in Japa.So I have taken both of the best selling games in Japan from both franchises.

Now DQ9 on the DS is a monster,it sold very quickly.While on the other hand FF7,the biggest RPG of all time isn't far behind according to VGC sales data.

But FF7 sales were stopped tracking after some time and being the biggest RPG and with the good word of mouth many more copies on FF7 would have have been sold after firms stopped tracking its sales and its selling on PSN too.For DQ9,its selling currently too and sold so many just in a short time and its sales could still increase cause its still in its first year of sales.

So who do you think has sold more till now and will sell more over lifetime?

 

I think FF7 surely cause its been released for a far longer time and the fact that it is still selling on PSN.

FFVII is not the biggest RPG of all time.

And DQ is more popular than FF in Japan.

In sales: DQ9 >>>> FFVII

French Wikipedia says that FF 7 sold 4 millions in multiple re-release.

I could translate by : " In mars 2006, multiple re-release sold 4 millions in Japan and 9,8 millions worldwide, which means that FF is the best FF sold to date".

thats what i wrote this thread to discuss.FF7 sales cud be way over DQ9 adding the untracked sales,PSN sales and international edition.

 

I agree DQ is popular than FF but FF was more popular once,its just FF popularity has decreased.And we are not comparing today's FF games.We are comparing DQ9 to FF7 when FF games were more popular than DQ.

 

And how is FF7 not the biggest RPG of all time,then what is?

i understand that DQ is more popular than FF today but FF was aspopular back when FF7 launched

It's not today. DQ has always been more popular than FF in Japan.

Because FFVII the FF series have become more popular in the West, but in Japan DQ > FF (since DQ1 and FFI).

According famitsu, It seems that first release of FF7 sold "only" @ 3,28 millions. (and 3,937 with all release)
