I was flipping through the channels on TV when I stumbled across a horror movie by the name of "Darkness Falls". In that movie, a ghost terrorizes people, but it is sensitive to light. People use flashlights to scare it away.

It's either a huge coincidence, or it is a source of inspiration for the game.

Although I have to say that the lighting in the game is 100x better than any of the special effects in the movie.
