Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Why do most third party publishers ignore the Wii completely ?

Because what wii players want is wiisports, wiifit, mario, zelda and that's all. They don't care about other games.

Favourite Games:

PS: Final Fantasy IX, Final Fantasy VII. PS2: Resident Evil 4, Shadow Hearts Covenant, Final Fantasy X, Silent Hill 4, Soul Calibur III. PS3: Metal Gear Solid 4, Heavy Rain, Valkyria Chronicles, Uncharted 2, Mototstorm PR, God of War III, Modern Warfare 2. Xbox: Suteki, Fatal Frame II DC, Jade Empire. 360: Dead Rising, Lost Odyssey, Dead or Alive 4.

False. I'm not going to get into why because it's already been stated in this thread and at least a hundred times on this site.

How can people say that third party games don't sell well on the wii. The Beatles: Rock Band wii, codmw reflex, Cabela's game hunter, band hero, just dance, disney sing it that is a sample of world charts on this site of the top 50 games of this week. why is codmwii selling so well why? is it because it is a causal game?

Monster Hunter 3. The top selling third party game in Japanese home systems this generation.

I've noticed several people forgetting about that game.  It probably has something to do with the fact that it isn't out in all regions yet.

I've noticed both of you forgetting about FF XIII.

But you didn't notice me already getting reminded, and me admitting the goof.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

You'd better retract that fanboy statement. It's now a bannable offence. I'm not joking. Look in the rules.

And if MRFENIX doesn't get the actual reason the Wii deserves respect and recognition (which is not the same as all praise and not criticism), he's part of the problem.

There was nothing offensive about my statement IMO. Feel free to report it if you feel otherwise.

Forum rules are not up to opinion. Try actually reading them.

Hmmm, my thoughts...

1. Quality third party games like Batman and GTA won't do well on Wii.
2. By developing games for Wii they would kind of admit that they had bet on the wrong horse.
3. Some weeks ago our school went to a university and a programming student said that the Wiimote is very tricky to programme, furhtermore developers don't get much help by Nintendo in doing so (seriously: I don't know if this is true).
4. Porting a game to an inferior console would consume much time and money which (maybe) doesn't pay off because of Reason 1.

edit: I'll use this opportunity to ask something: How do I create a My Games (owned) list here on VGchrtz? I beg for a step for step guide for dummies )=

I am pretty sure I have read quite a few articles from 3rd party devs, saying that Nintendo lent help to help them understand the wii and its capabilities... I am pretty sure Eric Nofsinger from HVS said so as well somewhere out on the interwebs.

I am willing to bet my house and two shoes... that if DQX remains single platform it takes the crown for highest selling third party game this generation in Japan. Matter of fact I will throw in some doritos and cheese sauce too.

But Dragon Quest is a casual series. Or will be once that happens.

Sad, but true.
