As for this data it could be ,sounds reasonable ,but sinobi data has been innacurate many times so I would wait for tomorrow Media Create data .
The DS is a systems in which every single game is an exclusive. The PSP plays downgraded PS2 ports or versions of games that are played better on the PS2. Wrap your head around that as a possible reason the DS is winning this race.

I carry my PSP with me almost all the time when out and about in the standard pouch and it is just fine. Battery life turned out to be better than I expected too, and the stamina battery pack gives impressive run times. It is just fine for pick up and play portable games. Running games off the memory stick is as fast as you are going to get, and for UMD games you can put them in and out of standby mode in a second or two.

Nintendo = owns Japan. Sony = spanked. 1 PSP, 1 PS3 game in the top 50 = terrible. Both are "awesome" games (PSP title may be the best selling PSP title of all time). Wii / DS sales up; PSP / PS2 / PS3 sales down. In fact this week - the Wii sold more units than the PS2/PSP/PS3 combined. That's a pretty telling statistic. When does the next (good) game for the PSP or PS3 come out again?

This is a sales forum you know?? WOW at Wii and DS going back up! Those lows of previous weeks must have been because of supply constraints... I don't understand why the Japanese RPG developers are doing 360 games (Eternal Sonata etc) unless they are getting a paycheck from Microsoft! The Japanese and American markets are SO hugely different in many different ways now, but yet the Wii is still the one on top... WHACKY!

Why would they do one if THEY WEREN'T getting a paycheck from MS ;? MS helps them develop a 360 RPG (lots of cash). Developer may own the title - and can port/release on other platforms in 12 months or so (one scenario). Also by MS doing this - they prevent more content from hitting the PS3 ;)

Yeah, well it suits me because the more JRPG's come to 360 the better. I started playing oblivion the other night, and it's a GREAT game but it's just not for me. Story may be fantastic etc etc, but the games style just isn't right... that's another topic though.

Funny you say that. I haven't played it (just watched a mate play it), and get the same feeling. I generally love RPG's - but am not grabbed by it - sort of hard to say why. Anyway - I know its off topic - but was just going to say that I know a few people that have bought Oblivion, played it for a while - and haven't touched it again (after say a few sessions). I wonder what % of people who have bought it, fall into the same category (and how many are "playing it through").

LOL keeping off topic about Oblivion, I love the graphics, I enjoyed creating my character, I enjoyed getting out of the dungeon at the start, but as soon as I got out into the world and didn't have any REAL direction about where to go next, and was confronted with hundreds of small quests in the first town, I just got overwhelmed... I sat there until the wee hours of the morning doing stuff, I was enjoying it, but now I just have NO draw to go back and play it again, I just have no interest or care for it at all now. Sucks because that cost me money and I thought cool a massive RPG with AWESOME options and stuff. I guess it suits the Dungeons and Dragons people, me i'm for a REALLY emotional action packed WOW JRPG thanks. Guess I should have realised that this game would be just a prettier Morrowind. I would love if someone like Square or some of the other Japanese RPG makers would make a game similar to this but with Japanese Anime characters and style, with that level of customization but more 'anime' stylised... you can choose how your character looks, what armour they wear, which path they take ETC ETC, jobs in FF are a basic version of this but not to the level of oblivion, it's cool but i just feel like CBF it's TOO much for me unfortunately (also a very common problem for the game, but it suits some so...) Enough off topic now sorry :)

From what I have seen over several years is that (in Japan) it is not typical to have a system sell more than (about) 40,000 or 50,000 units on a week where there are no game releases ...
How is that surprising? The games aren't selling the console, the controller is. So once it gets old, sales go down. How could it be the games if the games are basically the same available for the gamecube.

Replace "controller" with the word "brand" and "gamecube" with "PS2". What you get is an adequate description of the PS3 and why it's selling.
