^ thats a lot of cherry picking.

What do you mean? It's a straight across comparison. M-rated SEGA PS3 and/or 360 games vs. M-rated SEGA Wii games.

I think he miss the M-rated part.

This thread is probably dead but I can't believe that people do not understand that not all the games are mainstream.

oh come on, bayonetta haven't even been released WW and you are comparing it, with only japanese sales versus games with worldwide sales.

that game alone breaks your comparison.

I'm pretty sure that's was answered  a few posts back.

Why don't you make like a tree and get out of here?

I have read the comments by this person. A lot of people seem to be giving them a lot of credence. But Constance makes both relevant and irrelevant points.

His idea that the Wii could make a profit at $80 and that 80% of people don't want more than Wii Sports (or WSR/Wii Play). He also talked about EA's marketing for Dead Space Extraction (which I never saw).

The only statement he made that made sense was that it is tough getting those who play FPS on HD consoles to play on the Wii.

But he should also look at sales data -- Sega needs the Wii. It has had eight console million sellers this generation -- seven have been on the Wii (the eighth was Sega Superstar Tennis for the Xbox 360 which was bundled).

And HOTD Overkill (Wii) outsold Yakuza 3 (PS3) -- so Sega has more problems than just selling "mature" games on Wii.

glad to hear it, more publishers need to flee upmarket away from the Wii and into niche territory, when it collapses, I want to see lots of these publishers go under.

Predictions:Sales of Wii Fit will surpass the combined sales of the Grand Theft Auto franchiseLifetime sales of Wii will surpass the combined sales of the entire Playstation family of consoles by 12/31/2015 Wii hardware sales will surpass the total hardware sales of the PS2 by 12/31/2010 Wii will have 50% marketshare or more by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  It was a little over 48% only)Wii will surpass 45 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  Nintendo Financials showed it fell slightly short of 45 million shipped by end of 2008)Wii will surpass 80 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2009 (I was wrong!! Wii didn't even get to 70 Million)

Sega has had more success on Wii than HD systems combined but all they do the bitch about Nintendo....and they wonder why they're losing money!?

Vanillaware titles are not exactly mainstream, so I think that bashing Muramasa sales is completely wrong.

Doesn't change the fact that given the install base of the Wii and that alot of action/rpg lovers have the system it should have sold considerably more. I am not bashing Muramasa as far as quality because as I said, I would buy a Wii for that game and that game only (something Zelda will never make me do unless they do an Ocarina of Time remake). Look at Demon's Souls. How much more niche can you get than that and no euro release either with an even smaller install base to the Wii. Care to explain that one to me? You can also look at VC. Point that I am trying to make is wtf are Wii owners buying? A second copy of Wii sports? Another gimmick fitness game? You guys have some amazing titles that don't translate to sales when it easily can. Top seller is what Wii sports? lol. My "bash" is more of a frustration at seeing such quality titles go to "waste" when anyone who has a clue about gaming regardless of what system they own would pick up Muramasa in a heartbeat. Perhaps since I haven't owned a Ninty system since SNES, I am not blinded by JUST focusing on mario, metroid and zelda and that's why I could appreciate titles on YOUR system that break away from the typical franchises and that stay away from gimmicks. This isn't a bash on the Wii, on the contrary, it's a praise for being able to bring something different to the table. I also liked madworld as much as I liked Wet (both good games).

You can cherrypick on every system.  Why did Folklore and 3D Dot Game Heroes bomb on PS3 if action RPGs sell so well there.  Hell, the 3 best selling Japanese Action RPGs this gen (Zelda TP, MH3, Super Paper Mario) are all Wii games.

Muramasa is doing okay, comparably to the last similar game from this developer on PS2.  I'm not sure how you can really spin that?

until versus show up :p

Versus will probably outsell MH3.  It's a toss up between it and SPM.  No chance in hell it'll come close to Zelda though.

Very true because even if Zelda continues to show inferiority it just sells for name alone (Halo suffers from this syndrome, and lately Final Fantasy). You can show a picture of link on concept art and people will go crazy. I have yet to see a Zelda game that even comes remotely close to the brilliance of Ocarina of Time, although Majora's Mask was a fair attempt, and once I got past the horrible visuals of Windwaker (Viewtiful Joe looked better) the gameplay and just about everything did not convince me at all. At least TP tried something in the graphics department and the exploration side I guess. Zelda sales will be what shows how many casual gamers the Wii really has, as I have yet to see a diehard Ninty fan that wouldn't buy that game. If at the very LEAST Zelda sells close to HALF the install base in Japan like FFXIII seems to have done so far (notice I said nearly), then at least we know mostly core gamers bought the Wii in Japan.

Make games, not war (that goes for ridiculous fanboys)

I may be the next Maelstorm or not, you be the judge http://videogamesgrow.blogspot.com/  hopefully I can be more of an asset than a fanboy to VGC hehe.

If you compare the sales of non M sega titles to the M rated ones on the wii .. you'll get what SEGA is saying. They sell millions of copies of mario and sonic, and sonic games on the wii.. heck even Super monkey ball sells well.

But in comparison none of the more Mature titles can compare. Not that M titles dont sell on the wii.. they simply dont sell as well as the more casual stuff they can put out there.

Simply put> we tried.we failed. now lets make "M"oney

Doubt is not a pleasant condition, but certainty is absurd.

5 THINGS I'd like to see before i knock out:

a. a AAA 3D sonic title

b. a nintendo developed game that has a "M rating"

c. redesgined PS controller

d. SEGA back in the console business

e. M$ out of the OS business

Then they should focus on making M-rated games that will sell on the HD consoles for the Wii. Instead of picking up Niche titles. Secondly, Sega has not released very many M-rated games for the Wii. There is something called developing an audience. Gamers have to be feed with a steady supply of games in a particular genre in order to support said genre on a console. If Sega expects to sell M-rated games on the Wii then they need to build an audience. If they leave then they are saying that they do not want to sell their M rated products to an audience of over 60 million consumers. How dumb a business move is that. It's a very dumb move and makes no sense.

If Nintendo is successful at the moment, it’s because they are good, and I cannot blame them for that. What we should do is try to be just as good.----Laurent Benadiba
