SONY fans love --->J<---R P G 's

You are so wrong about SONY fans love -->J<---R P G 's because the Dragon Quest series sold more than 90% of it's total sale only in Japan. Very incredible. I think it is more accurate to say SONY fans love FF. I mean FF is great and big no doubt about it, but there a lot more rpgs out there (Japanese or Western) that are not selling at all and they look great.

.............................. you do know outside of Japan DQ series is very unknown series??? DQ8 was the 1st DQ game to have a huge media push to garner more awareness in NA and EU. SE has been working to get DQ more awareness this gen with DQ remakes/spinoffs but up intill now DQ had no face in NA so blaming Playstation fans is silly especially when 3 DQ were released on SNES in NA and did not fair any better than the 2 PS ones..... and since when does DQ = all JRPG's? and wat JRPG's on PS3 arnt selling well??? im interested because there hasnt been any JRPG's on PS3 in NA

Do you know that in Japan that DQ is bigger than FF. Do you know that off all the PS3 RPG's sold in Japan that FF XIII in only it's first week represent 47% of RPGs sold on the PS3 in Japan (out of 19 games). Do you know also that there are no RPG on the PS3 that hit 1 M copies in either Japan, America or Others until FF XIII came along and did it in Japan. Only 2 RPGS on the PS3 so far has hit over 1 millions worlwide before FF XIII. This is the reason why I am saying that you were wrong thinking that the poor sale of Dragon Age had probably something to do with "sony fans love -->J<---R P G". I am a RPG fan myself and it kills me to see a good RPG not getting great sales number.

SONY fans in general perfer JRPG's to Western RPG's we were raised on them since PS1 era...thats a fact. do you realize FFXIII, TOV,SO4,and WKC( the big JRPG's games for PS3 up till now) still haven't released in NA? so lets wait and see how these games do compared to DA in NA ok

In the past, I also thought that Sony fans in general preferd JRPG's to Western RPG's. But when I look the numbers from this site, I was very surprised to see that RPGs in both PS1 and PS2 were dominated by main FF games BIG TIME. One of my favorite on the PS1: Legend of Dragoon, didn't even reach 2 Millions WW. I made a thread entitled: "There are a few RPG fans, but a lot of FF fans". I think you might find it interesting.

the console to Dragon Age attach rate is pretty close for both games. I would imagine if Sony had 20+ million PS3 sold in America like the 360 they would be pretty close in sales!

I have the game. I think most skipped cos they were complaining about frame rate drops on the ps3 version. I did experience these frame rate drops but I dont think they made the game unplayable like many would lead you to believe.

Also, it would seem like when the game launched, ps3 versions were hard to find in many retil stores for some reason (going by posts on gamefaqs.com). I had no trouble finding it cos I buy all my games from amazon.com

"Dr. Tenma, according to you, lives are equal. That's why I live today. But you must have realised it by now...the only thing people are equal in is death"---Johann Liebert (MONSTER)

"WAR is a racket. It always has been.

It is possibly the oldest, easily the most profitable, surely the most vicious. It is the only one international in scope. It is the only one in which the profits are reckoned in dollars and the losses in lives"---Maj. Gen. Smedley Butler

i know it pisses me off to!

However my reason for now owning this game is... its to violent! *goes to buy assassins creed II* lulz for hypocrisy!

The problem you're seeing is not that it sold badly for what it is on the PS3, it sold great on the Xbox 360 and that causes you to percieve a problem with the PS3 versions sales. Theres nothing wrong with the sales on the PS3 its just that the Xbox 360 had first dibs on Oblivion, they had Fallout 3, Exclusivity on Fallout 3 DLC, Fable 2 and Mass Effect 1/2. If the above games sold systems for the Xbox 360, then the gamers which bought the systems will continue to buy WRPGs for that system. The Xbox 360 has a core RPG audience and WRPGs sell up to around 3M and not more whereas the PS3 does not have as large of an audience for this time of game even relative to overall console sales.

Tease.

i think the PS3 fanbase is just jmore harder to please then any other because we ussed to geting the best. I mean we have Sony first oarty 2nd party at our disposal.

In my opinion games dont get better then htat most of the time.

And this game in my opinion is shit. Along side.

Mass effect
Fallout 3
elder scrolls oblivion
borderlands and a few more

They are in my opinion crap. I prefer if you wanna categorize it Jrpg's

Nobody's perfect. I aint nobody!!!

Killzone 2. its not a fps. it a FIRST PERSON WAR SIMULATOR!!!! ..The true PLAYSTATION 3 launch date and market dominations is SEP 1st

I'm a PS3 owner, and I was going to buy it...untill I found out about all the DLC that would soon follow, I figured I'd simply wait for a game of year edition similar to fall out 3 and get it then, and if they don't do one, then I simply will not buy it, simple as that really.

My thoughts exactly!

Odd. Future. Wolf. Gang. Kill. Em. All. OFWGKTA Don't give a fuck!

Fuck Steve Harvey. FREE EARL!

Final Fantasy Versus XIII will be the GREATEST game EVER made!!!

I'd take a bullet for Square-Enix!

A couple of reasons I think. First of all, the Xbox has an advantage over the PS3 when it comes to WRPGs, and they sell better on the Xbox. Second, BioWare is much more widely known among the Xbox community than it is among the Playstation community. There were probably a fair number of people whose number one reason for buying the game was because BioWare's name's on the box, they really have a dedicated following, and since their major releases of the past six years have all been on Xbox, it gives it an advantage there. Squilliam's right too with his other examples, and I'll point out all of those developers released a title on the original Xbox while none of them did on the PS2, which is another reason why WRPGs are more popular on Xbox.

Also, to whoever was commenting about watching videos of the battle system and being bored, I have to tell you that that is probably one of my least favorite parts of this game (essentially it's just the KOTOR battle system anyway). What makes WRPGs, and this game in particular, fun for me is conversing with NPCs, following the twists and turns of the storyline, reading the codex entries which provide an amazingly deep backstory for the game, and making decisions and seeing how they play out. If the game were just a bunch of levels with the battle system tacked onto it, I wouldn't buy it either, because combat is really not the reason I buy these sort of games. Some may see it differently though.
