Forums - Microsoft Discussion - 360 controllers break too easily

Lol I threw my controller on the floor while playing Fifa 10 and that broke my controller as well (well the A button doesn't respond as well anymore so I still use it if I'm playing a friend)

Gamecube controllers were worse! I broke three of them because I chucked them against the wall!

I agree , 360 controllers suck, they break easy and worst of all, THERE D PAD BLOWSSSSSSSS. Other then that I like them just fine !!

4 controllers all working perfectly.

You never played N64 then?

Imagine not having GamePass on your console...

I'll like shake my controller out of frustration sometimes but I've never thrown it before. I've never really had a problem with broken controllers before but, hot damn does one of my SNES controllers piss me off. The start and select button have to be pressed down with 2000 pounds of pressure to get them to work. Plus the d-pad is shot to all hell.

i had a 10 kill streak in modern warfare, one more till chopper gunner and this prick kills me with his cheap little akimbo rangers.

what do i do? i throw my controller on the ground and it exploded. either im stronger than i thought i was or the controller breaks easily.

the only problem i have had with my 360 controllers (only my launch controller) is the left analog is kind stuck to the left, this is only because i played track and field way to much and it killed the analog, but my controllers have been dropped frequently and no problem there. They do tend to get very dirty/grimy though

There are two things I hate about my 360 controllers--the D Pad and the battery back that is only a year old and can't hold a charge for more than 2 days. Those charge kits are garbage. You're almost better off with AAs in my experience.

The dpad is poor.

The controller is rock solid though.

I dont have an issue with the recharge packs... do you charge with the tower or the cable?  I use one of the towers to charge two battery packs and they last quite well.

I usually use the USB port on my printer to charge them, because my 360 doesn't always do a good job charging.  It's weird.  If I charge it up and don't play it for a couple of nights, it's dead by the time I turn it back on.  If I charge it up fully and play every night, it will last me 2 or 3 nights.  These things are too temperemental.

My recharge packs are 2 years old and last a long time.  Are you playing 2 days straight?  That'd be a good charge if so

Nah, I usually play about 2 hours a night on the weekdays and maybe about 3 hours a night on the weekends.  Again, it's really weird, because if I use the controller every night, the charge lasts at least 2 or 3 nights.  If I let it sit unused for a couple of nights, it's absolutely dead the next time I use it.  A couple of other 360 controller quirks:

--If I let the 360 charge the controller overnight, it usually has only 75% charge the next time I use it.  If I disconnect it shortly after the light turns green, it seems to get a full charge.  If I let it charge overnight, it only gets a partial charge.

--My 360 will only charge one of my controllers after shut down.  The other one it doesn't seem to like and will just shut off every time.  Then if I try to plug it in somewhere else, it thinks it's already charged up all the way and won't charge up anymore until I wear it out again.

So overall, I slightly favor the 360 controller over the PS3 controller, especially for shooters, but battery life wise the PS3 controller has the upper hand.  My DualShock 3 takes over a week to wear out even with regular play AND doesn't take nearly as long to charge back up.

i have smashed my ps3 remotes atleast 20 times and they still work
and 1 of my wii remotes has issues turning on so i smash it on the ground and step on it and then it starts to work again

Fuck

Never had a problem with my 4.

I think that by now most people have smashed their wiimotes against the ground, tables, televisions and people standing nearby. This act usually shows just how well made the Wiimote is... And just how poorly made everything else in your house is.
