I guess you were unlucky. I've got a pair of 360 remotes (wireless) that have taken a beating from my son and they still work. He even tried to flush one down the toilet and it still works. By comparison, i have lost 4 ps2 remotes to the likes of my wife (sore loser), 2 keyboards [from playing too much unreal tournament (haha)], and a mouse. It is easier to break today's remotes compared to yesterday's, but the fact remains that the companies (1stParty) that make them try to make them comfortable and robust. 3rd Party dev's for remotes usually don't fair as well as most of my ps2 remotes that were destroyed (3) were 3rd party.

Looking @ this makes me feel old...PROUD owner of NES, SNES, GENESIS, TurboGrafx 16 (PCE), N64, PSOne, PS2, Dreamcast, Xbox360, and PC.

Yeah My battery holder on my 360 controller broke after it dropped off my bed ~2 ft. I put a piece of tape on it to hold it in place though. I only use that one when a friend comes over to play. My snes pad has been thrown countless times and buried in the dirt for a week and it still works.

Remember the Nintendo 64 controller + Mario Party 1? Great combination if you ask me.

Same for GC controller + Smash Bros. Melee.

Get the wired controller so it won't slip off your hands. Or get a strap.

This thread smells like bash city. Diehard 360 owners will say the PS3 controller broke this little part when it dropped from 8 inches off the ground and how their 360 controller was thrown across the room and it was fine rofl, gotta love these posts.
On a realistic note, playing RE4 at friend's house I dropped the control twice (that I can recall) and it seemed to continue working perfectly fine. My PS3 controller has seen wear and tear (including the times my dogs think it's their toys), I've thrown it across the room playing Demon's Souls a few times (not against the wall), only maybe once did it hit a table (that I recall) and there are absolutely no problems with it whatsoever. dropped friend's 360 control a few times playing Gears of War 1 with him and also didn't notice anything wrong with it.
My old genesis 3 button controller and 6 button controllers saw wear and tear back in the day with MK1 and 2 mainly, throwing them against walls, floor, etc, and still worked well.
These posts just leave me to believe that the diehard fans of their preferred system (tempted to use the other word but I will get banned...again) will find ways to bash the competing system's controllers. If there is any truth to some of the statements, then I can't help but wonder wtf is everyone doing with their console controls?!?!? Do you go up to the second floor and drop your PS3 controller and then drop your 360 controller from 8 inches off the ground and claim the PS3 controller is horrible for not being able to endure that?!?! lol. Seriously with a little common sense and by holding your composure somewhat, your stuff will last a loooong time. And yes, after playing Demon's Souls I am surprised my PS3 control works perfectly, cuz after the domestic abuse it received I did expect it to break.

Make games, not war (that goes for ridiculous fanboys)

I may be the next Maelstorm or not, you be the judge http://videogamesgrow.blogspot.com/  hopefully I can be more of an asset than a fanboy to VGC hehe.

Well, I've thrown my controller at the tv, wall, and floor and it actually still worked. It took me smashing it several times in a row to finally break it.

So you are crying about the controllers when you smash it to the ground because you suck at a game? Seriously?

I've only ever broken my PS2 controller and my Duke Xbox controller

no idea how to make this properly work

Got 4 controller to my 360.

2 wasnt longtimers.. So 50/50 that you will get a good one that hold at lest 3 years.
