Forums - Gaming Discussion - why is it that the internet seems more flooded with ps3 gamerz?

mostly everywhere i look, vgc, youtube, gamfaqs, ign....its all flooded with ps3 gamers that like the ps3 more, why arent there more 360 gamers backing their system up and sharing stuff about the 360 than ps3....it makes no sense to me....anyone have an answer?

Cause they are too busy playing good games /jk

I've noticed this too, and I think its just that ps3 fans are more vocal, or already made up the base of these sites from the ps2 era.

Maybe you just have an eye for talent?

There are two major reasons. The first is due to the PS2 success. Most of the visible posters on any video game message board are those blinded by brand loyalty. The PS2 completely dominated the competition and thus has a large number of those spilling over. In a couple generations time these people will mellow out and become more rational and balanced posters. This will lead to a rise in the number of irrational posters for which ever console is on top though, sadly. Such is the cycle of video game discussion.

The second is market appeal. The PS3 appeals to the tech savvy consumer. As such they are more likely to be on internet message boards in the first place. As a result they or over represented compared to the general population.

This is the most reasonable explanation to me at least. Of course it doesn't really matter in the end. Which console people stick to is largely irrelevant. As long as they are rational posters it all works out.

The console with the best games always has the most fanboys.

That or the console with the best games has gamers playing all days... while the console with no game leaves it's owners talking on the internet about the next big game that releases in 5 years...

Or a bit of both... PS3 users got used to go on the internet cause they had no games for a while, now it has the best games so these forum lurkers actually have something to brag about?

Wrong, if you TRULY want to talk about "blind loyalty" then how do you explain 360 fans in the PAST that have been through several 360's due to the previous huge failure rate (doesn't seem to apply to jasper models since they seem to have greatly improved). Now THAT is true brand loyalty. I personally been on boards since gf is off from work and watching alot of Law and Order, NCIS, etc, and is currently watching FFVII: Advent Children Complete ed. (yes I need to buy another TV).

Your second paragraph does make sense, and so is your final one.

Make games, not war (that goes for ridiculous fanboys)

I may be the next Maelstorm or not, you be the judge http://videogamesgrow.blogspot.com/  hopefully I can be more of an asset than a fanboy to VGC hehe.

What is confusing about me second and third paragraphs? It follows the exact same argument from the first. I also don't understand what you are going for with the 360 business. I make it quite clear in the first paragraph that this is not a phenomenon that is strictly found on any one product.

ur second reason sounds good to me

The only acceptable answer is that the majority of 360 owners are not "real" gamers. Whatever that means to you. It certainly isn't an insult. Just that the majority of the console owners are people who just play shooters/halo with their college buddies while drinking a 24. Great fun and usually good guys but they are not the type of people that hang around on message boards. The true hardcore have a ps3. They probably have a 360 as well because the ps3 did start off rather slow, but we have ps3s, and we'd have it no other way. PlayStation is what console gaming is all about.

Thats what the PSX and the PS2 did, complete dominance with _core_ games. The result now is that the majority of those PS2 core gamers are PS3 fans, while some are 360 fans. Fill in the Casual market the 360 has and you have a bigger fan base but the fan base is probably watching sports are going to parties instead of going on boards to argue and debate console sales.

Nothing bad about either user base, they both have their problems and pluses.

Disclaimer: Just because you personally do not fit either of these molds does not mean that it isn't true.
