Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Why so many Wii dissapointment threads lately?

Hype machine? Are you kidding?

Where have you been in the last 1 1/2 years?

If anyone is feeling like me it's that there just haven't been any great games coming out for the Wii. I've bought a bunch... elebits, dewey, R* table tennis, madden 08, mysims, mario party 8, twilight princess, red steel, godfather, and a handful of others I can't remember. NONE of them have been AAA games. The controls show such promise for great games but there have been so many disappointments that I just sort of expect it now.

There have been a LOT of AAA games lately on the 360... Bioshock, Halo 3, Forza 2, PGR4, Orange Box, and so on... These games have delivered fun in a big way.

The quality of the games, not necessarily graphics, hasn't really been there. Hopefully MOH:Heroes 2 and some of the other fall and early 08 titles re-invigorate my interest in the Wii.

I hate trolls.

Systems I currently own:  360, PS3, Wii, DS Lite (2)
Systems I've owned: PS2, PS1, Dreamcast, Saturn, 3DO, Genesis, Gamecube, N64, SNES, NES, GBA, GB, C64, Amiga, Atari 2600 and 5200, Sega Game Gear, Vectrex, Intellivision, Pong.  Yes, Pong.

I've owned a Wii since day one, and here's the thing...

Nintendo promised us everything. The Wii was a hype machine.

"Come one, come all!" "The Wii will change gaming forever!"

Nintendo showed us all these amazing games, that supposedly had some amazing controls.

Think of how fun Zelda would be with realistic controls! Imagine all the amazing things that can be done!!!!!!

But now, the hype has died down. Nintendo realizes this, and that's why they're finally bringing out some decent games.

The Wii's controls don't warrant droughts for months at a time. For all of their babble about gameplay, they couldn't even come out with a decent game.

And that is the truth about the Wii.

What system hasn't had a year one drought of good non-ports?  Seriously.

Yeah, I'm positive that they are releasing these good games as a response to a slight downward sales decline over the past 4 months. Good Call. I mean, I don't suppose development time has anything to do with the quality of the games. That is why Nintendo pulled their teams together and decided they had to do something, making Fire Emblem, Battalion Wars, Mario Galaxy, Metroid Prime 3, Link's Crossbow training, etc all in the matter of a few months. Nintendo is really that amazing that they can turn on a dime if need be. So glad they can meet our expectations like that because if Nintendo didn't, then man would they be so much worse than any other company that sometimes spends YEARS to develop games of quality and get used to hardware. I mean, how pethetic is that!

Nintendo was just playing with us during the first few months, they really knew everything about the controls and had plenty of time to develop games, I mean a few months. That's a piece of cake for Nintendo! They just chose not to show us that they fully understood their brand new motion control technology despite all of the possibilities and untested mappings, so that their console could show growth later on instead of being a completely success initially. Well I'm glad Nintendo finally came to their senses and decided to deliver on all their promises!

I can't here you, I'm too busy trying to steal my treasure map off of Captain Rose's air ship.

I'm a mod, come to me if there's mod'n to do.

Chrizum is the best thing to happen to the internet, Period.

Serves me right for challenging his sales predictions!

Bet with dsisister44: Red Steel 2 will sell 1 million within it's first 365 days of sales.

I'm not sure you were ever supposed to here him.

That said, I blame Rol.

His joke topic pwned half of the board and in the process convinced many who had fallen for it that it was time to stop hiding from the imaginary "Wii Army" and started dropping threads about complaints that are in no way original. What it eventually turned into was a pile-on, supported by Sony trolls and the sarcastic jackasses who are only known for co-signing replies and generally add little to worthwhile discussions.

Die Rol die!

Tag - "No trolling on my watch!"

Ahh, it's not exactly flooded by these, is it? I've only seen a handfull (that are serious anyway). Some dude called me a fanboy when I critiqued the Wii in another thread, despite the fact that I have no platform of choice currently... I'm a... whatboy? Anyway; lesson learned, do not speak against the allmighty Wii...

Lets be clear here, people like to think that just because someone responds to a negative comment about a Wii we are somehow attacking folks. This simply isn't the case. If you post your concerns you are asking for responces otherwise you wouldn't need to let us all know. So when people get those responces they get to decide how to react to them and if the reasoning is enough to change their minds.

As for this percieved "can't hate the wii" attitude that is BS. A lot of Wii fans had the exact same responce back when Leo-J pulled a very serious thread about how the PS3 was a failure and he was feeling down about it. Several Wii & PS3 fans responded explaining that the PS3 was far from dead in the water and that it still had things it could do.

Nobody was coddling Leo and telling him it was going to make a big comeback to first, but we were still correcting his mistaken assumptions even though so called fanboys would be dancing around the fire laughing at the thread.

That is a stark contrast to what happened with Rol's thread, instead of Sony fans disagreeing with the points that were wrong they piled on and in general I think that shows a completely different mindset on this website between the two groups of people.

To Each Man, Responsibility

people are playing wii-bingo *yawn*

well , here are much more negative threads about the other consoles (especially one in particular) , but if you really enjoy what you have or have confidence in your future decision those threads shouldn't matter at all to you

The Wii is like every over console of it's type--all show and no go. Wii is for people who like hype and console wars over gameplay.
