Forums - General Discussion - Nostalgia Thread #1 - Favorite board games

As a young kid, I LOVED Fireball Island.  For those who never played this game it was one of several 3d board games put out by milton bradley in the mid 80s and it was awsome.  You played as one of 4 treasure hunters trying to take a jewel from a fireball (red marble) spitting idol and escape the island.

I actually bought this game on ebay a few years ago and its just as much fun now.  I highly suggest buying this if you find it at a yard sale.

I am a Gauntlet Adventurer.

I strive to improve my living conditions by hoarding gold, food, and sometimes keys and potions. I love adventure, fighting, and particularly winning - especially when there's a prize at stake. I occasionally get lost inside buildings and can't find the exit. I need food badly. What Video Game Character Are You?

Mouse Trap is still one of the greatest games of all time.

My favorite game from my childhood years was the combo of Advanced Third Reich and Empire of the Rising Sun. Yes I played them at age 13 despite them having a combined 300 page instruction manual. http://www.boardgamegeek.com/game/283 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Empire_of_the_Rising_Sun

This was quite possibly the coolest board game ever.

I also loved 13(13) Dead End Drive. It was morbid but a lot of fun

OMG!!! Fireball Island!! I got this for my birthday (or Christmas) years and years ago, I can't believe this is the first time I remembered this from that long ago, thanks for posting that :)

I also like Mouse Trap (who doesn't), Game of Life, and the Goosebumps board game (the first one).

Illuminati.

I loved Fireball Island.  I'm surprised I haven't seen it re-released like every other game out there.

This game is called Atmosfear.  You watched a VHS tape while you were playing that would dictate so pretty catastrophic turn-arounds in the game.  The newly released version features a DVD that automatically shuffles the game, so it's different every time.  You can usually pick it up for about $12 at the end of a holiday, because that's the only time I have seen it for sale, and no one buys them.

I liked Rail Barron, an awesome board game dealing with Rail Roads. I also liked Risk and Monopoly.
