Forums - Sales Discussion - How well will Nights Wii sell?

Assume this game is real since it has been picked up by...kotaku, neogaf, a Sweedish magazine, neogaf, ign, gamespot and Sega demanded that the picture from the Sweedish magazine be taken down. OMN also claims it is not an April Fool's Joke. Additionally, the Sweedish magazine is free...so there is no gain in tricking people into buying the magazine. Therefore, it looks like Nights 2 is real, and for Wii. On the Sega Saturn, a system that never sold more than 6 million in Japan, Nights sold to nearly 500,000 gamers. I believe in the Americas it sold around 250,000...no idea for Europe/others. However, if the game is well made, I think these are good preliminary estimates. My estimations... 1) Nights 2 is an amazing, revolutionary game. Japan - 1 million, Americas - 500,000, Others - 300,000 2) Nights 2 is a great game, a faithful, modern and improved sequel. Japan - 750,000, Americas - 350,000, Others - 200,000 3) Nights 2 is decent/good, but mainly sells to Sega/hardcore gamers Japan - 500,000, Americas - 200,000, Others - 100,000 4) Night 2 is a poor sequel... Japan 120,000, Americas 50,000, Others - 30,000. Any thoughts?

Now while it may seem fairly certain that the game will come out, is there certainty on the console? And in all honesty, the only thing I know about this game is that it was on a console I never actually saw. I'm starting to wonder if the Saturn really existed. *runs off to look up NiGHTS reviews*

Serves me right for challenging his sales predictions!

Bet with dsisister44: Red Steel 2 will sell 1 million within it's first 365 days of sales.

Personally I think it's a HELLA Niche title... I mean how many people owned it on Saturn, they can only really appeal to that market, plus the other gamers who have heard it's an awesome game on Saturn and want to play it now. Me, no matter if it's a good or bad game I will still buy it simply because I was so obsessed with the NiGHTS character, it seriously is one of the best character designs ever... I THINK anyway. I don't think it will be a million seller itself in any of the individual regions (Sonic + Secret Rings hasn't so how the hell can NiGHTS?) but I think it has the potential to reach a million WW.

Um.. So far we only have the sales data for one week of NA sales and one week of Japanese sales. Little early to make positive or negative statements on the game's sales.

I really think Nights 2 can be a big seller for Wii. One reason is that alot of people agree nowadays that Sega's new stuff is pretty much sucking. And really going back to it's back catalogue for a trully innovative and Sega styled game that we all love is probably a good idea. If done right this game could really be a big game for the Wii. I mean and if you look back on the GC Sega games sold quite well on the Wii most noteably being Sonic and Super Monkey Ball. Sega games are generally well accepted on the Nintendo platforms so I do think this Nights sequel for the Wii could generate some good sales. I would think easily over time it'll sell over a million copies. Any other platform though this game would have fell through no doubt. As if you've noticed Sega platformers/adventure titles such as Sonic and Super Monkey Ball tend to fail on the other consoles especially the MS platforms. Not surprised either.

You really can't say how well it will do until we see how good it looks and how well it plays. I can see the Sonic Team truly screwing this game up...or perhaps they'll do a mediocre job...or maybe they'll make a hit? hmm..

Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release.  (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )

I agree 100%.

I fly this flag in victory!

Supposedly subscribers get the magazine within a week...so we'll know soon enough if this turns out to be a legit Wii exclusive.

There was also mention of it going x-platform... which would be interesting! I know *nothing* about Nights - and I think its a little early to be predicting sales.

I played both Nights and Christmas Nights. Couldn't tell you the first thing about either. Anyway, I don't think this is a particularly big game. It's certainly no Sonic.
