Forums - Sony Discussion - Do you think GOD of War Collection Eidtion has done well?

Absolutely, with the money it cost them to create these games from the short dev time, it surely made them money. Also, not to mention that they are still games that are 5 and 3 years old, so to sell that well against brand new titles. And some big name titles as well like Assassins Creed 2 and Modern Warfare 2, was good.

Its selling well, will continue to sell well, and with the little effort it took to make (one of the devs said they worked on it for 15 weeks or so) it undoubtedly made sony a lot of money. I think were going to see alot more of these collections. (MGS, Team Ico, Jak, ratchet, etc.)

A ps2 port with zero advertisement selling in a highly competitive environment for ps3 owners managed to sell over 400k in 5 weeks (plus, the game only released in America)...

Yeah, I'm gonna have to file this under 'not an issue...'

Boom?

Boom to the power of Boom

I think the game will sell at least 1 million copies. I got my yesterday and I think its a great idea to put 2 Top PS2 games onto 1 br disc. I hope that ICO and Sotc will follow.
The graphics were really good considering its actually a ps2 port (remastered though). At the fight against Hydra I was as excited as I was when I was playing the game years ago.

i think the games are doing fantastic
btw i have an extra voucher for GoWIII E3 09 demo if some one wants it
send me a private email

Considering it only took 15 weeks to get it done I say it did really well

It hasn't done well yet, but I think it will in time. The holidays are very busy right now, and PS3 owners are buying a lot of games. The season is too crowded for a game like GoW Collection to stand out. However, the next couple months will be somewhat of a dry spell (there will be some big releases, but not as many), and the game will stand out more. Also, a lot of people will be buying the game once God of War 3 comes out, and that game should have a big debut.

I'm stunned that OP and Monty think that almost 500k from just one region is anything other than brilliant.

They've spent next to nothing creating the game. All they've done is take two games they already owned and slap them together with some sharpening of the visuals and a sprinkling of trophies.

That's almost 500k copies sold, profit made, effort and expenditure close to nil.

I think it's worth bearing in mind that, although the package is made appealing by offering two games for the price of one, it's also going to be a turn-off for so megamers who don't fancy the idea of spending a fair amount of cash on touched up versions of last gen's material.

But GOW of is one of the biggest franchise... How much Halo 1 will do if it get treated for HD for XBOX 360.? i think easily 3 - 4 million in US alone n a million or so in Europe.. So GOW is more popular in America n it has got 2 awesome games with HD treatment n for less price than 1 game ($40 < $60) n released in holiday season n still managing less than 500k.. for any other game it would have been impressive but for GOW not so impressive.

You realise that in just a month and a bit it's already 25% of what the second did in US LTD.

The hack&slash genre is becoming less and less popular, too. Irrefutable trend.

So for GOW Collection to be moving this quickly off shelves, I'm stunned. I wasn't expecting WW LTD of much higher than what it currently stands at from just US sales alone.

Its a cash cow, probably took care of a nice chunk of GoW3 dev costs.
