Forums - Sony Discussion - Bee Movie Game not coming out for the Playstation 3?

It means a less diverse library, if it happens again and again, for any multi-platform for that matter, the PS3 shelf space will be so small it will never fire off.

the wii version has gotten 2 ratings, an 80 and a 70, so this is probably going to be slightly better quality then the average movie-game

Will the Playstation 3 install base increase? If so, when? And how? What games will make the Playstation 3 better?

nope, i just received an unconfirmed report that the last PS3 was sold to a 16 kid with pimples named George in an undisclosed location in Wyoming =p LOL, j/k, i'm with montanahatchet, the typical PS3 owner would not buy this game.

This isn't really a big loss for the PS3 or PSP but it also is not a (particularly) good sign either ...

For over a decade every shovelware movie tie-in game has been released for Sony's platforms because there was no question about profitability

ok i gotta ask i have ever known anyone to buy one of these games.. who the hell does?

Everyone knows the PS3 is a pain to develope for. I can't imagine missing out on average film ties in will be a problem for them though.

Correct answer.

We don't provide the 'easy to program for' console that they [developers] want, because 'easy to program for' means that anybody will be able to take advantage of pretty much what the hardware can do, so the question is what do you do for the rest of the nine and half years? It's a learning process. - SCEI president Kaz Hirai

It's a virus where you buy it and you play it with your friends and they're like, "Oh my God that's so cool, I'm gonna go buy it." So you stop playing it after two months, but they buy it and they stop playing it after two months but they've showed it to someone else who then go out and buy it and so on. Everyone I know bought one and nobody turns it on. - Epic Games president Mike Capps

We have a real culture of thrift. The goal that I had in bringing a lot of the packaged goods folks into Activision about 10 years ago was to take all the fun out of making video games. - Activision CEO Bobby Kotick

I don't think Bee Movie Game is the type of game that would sell many consoles, but this is the type of game that consoles want because it will bring easy revenue into their department. So no, it's not a huge loss, but it is still a loss because that's less money they have to lower console prices, make updates, reasearch PS4, etc...

Currently Playing:  Saints Row 2 | Battlefield 2 | Company of Heroes

Recently Beaten: Gears of War | Super Mario Galaxy | Darwinia | MGS4 | Sam and Max Ep. 4, Portal | Mirror's Edge | Uncharted | Mass Effect

Looking Forward to: Alan Wake | Splinter Cell : Conviction | The Last Guardian | Batman: Arkham Asylum | SMG2 | Mass Effect 2 |

this is a casual game for the casual gamers. i'm sure the ps3 owners that look at a site like this couldn't care less about the bee movie game but there are more casual gamers then hardcore gamers. albiet not a system killer this is definetly not a good sign for the ps3.

Worldwide (across all platforms) a game like this will potentially sell over 1 Million copies; most of these will be bought by parents for their children who really like the movie. Whether we (as gamers) like to admit it or not most gamers do not buy games based on quality, they buy games based on brand; this is generally true across all markets, not just videogames.

When you have a gamer, who has never even considered buying a magazine or searching the internet for game information, walk into a store and look at the row upon row of games they (typically) look for something familiar. There are some IPs that everyone knows about (for example, you can go to the deepest darkest region of Africa and people know who Super Mario and Micky Mouse are) but most game IPs are very unfamiliar.

Spiderman, Harry Potter and the Lord of the Rings are huge IPs that span several markets and the second someone sees these games they get the feeling (although often misplaced) that this is a good game; new movies that have a ton of marketing going on at the same time also gain this benefit but it has a much shorter lifespan (as an example 'Cars' the game doesn't have the impact it did 12 months ago).
