I was on neogaf and I saw this guy posted in the thread about the PSN user charges.  He had this idea of a three tier system which I thought was genius, what do you guys think?

I have begged and pleaded for Cross Game Chat from the deepest recesses of GAF. I hope you are smart and implement this feature properly. The feature should be FREE . Charging for this feature will be met with vehemence, criticism, and a slew of internet misbehavior on levels that make the EA fiasco look like child's play. 

I propose a business model which allows the Free PSN User to taste the goods of the Premium PSN User. No one really understands the beauty of cross game chat, until they actually participate in a session.

READ THIS IF YOU WANT MONEY:

Free PSN User

1. Up to three people can cross game chat. 

2. Up to 10 voice messages per month. 

3. No early access to betas. 



Premium PSN User - $19.99 per year

1. Up to eight people can cross game chat. 

2. Unlimited voice messages. 

3. Early access to betas, demos, and exclusive videos only found on Qore / PSN.

4. Access to PSN sales and discounts only for higher value members. 


Platinum PSN User - $34.99 per year 

1. Same as premium

2. Same as Premium

3. Same as Premium 

4. Same as Premium

5. Hour long demos, access to cloud server networks, etc.

6. PS3 extended life guarunntee (as long as your a member, you can replace your PS3)

Lets take a look at this list shall we? This offers all the great services to all members on all levels. However, this differentiates each at affordable prices that won't give off the vibe of "FUCK PS3 is too expensive". If you put this out, I garun-fucking-tee half of GAF will go for the 34.99 model.


I wish I had a gun so I could shoot you in the head right now Sony. I love the PS3, but people still haven't recovered from the "PS3 is too expensive", mantra. Don't fuck this up. You have to much good at your side right now.

SCE A, / J, / E, Stringer, Kaz, and the dude in the commercial- people still have this underlying hate for the PS3. Try to keep the premium services CHEAP. People can only be milked if they love you.

Wow...no traffic on this one...interesting. Glad that we are starting to get hints of these "wonderful" benefits to PSN monthly sub....oooh, and triple tiered too...to match the PS3....nice.

^^^ Yeah, but there will eventually be subscription envy as more and more services get added to the sub accounts...just watch and see...

I'm sure it will...not by Sony's choice, but hey have promoted this too much over the years to be able to charge for it now.  They boxed themselves into a corner, and they won't be able to change the model until the next console's launch.

Personally I think this is all crap. I do not like all of this talk of paid PSN subs. I really hope this does not happen.

microsoft does it gold. it seems people are quite happy paying it for.

I dont understand why people are up in arms about this. If everything remains in tact and we are offered a package deals its a win for people who want whats offered and a win for people who already are happy.

It would be great if they added everything we want in the future for free....as long as they dont take something we use now and charge i dont see how adding things we dont have yet for a fee is bad.

This is why people who pay for live dont mind paying, its always been that way. The only way sony can ruffle feathers is if they begin charging for something we already have.

Well I want to know why more people arent getting upset with the possibilty of this happening.   It just seems that too many people are embracing the idea.  Look,  I like Sony, but if they do this then what advantage is there between this or the 360?   What incentive do I have to keep playing my games on the PS3.
