This came up as a result of a discussion about the latest Nintendo podcast over at IGN. I like the idea of getting a few of us together and shooting the breeze for an hour or so every week or two, then putting it up for the forum to listen to.

The way this would work is that the podcast crew would be made up of a few of the forum's more respectable members - if enough people wanted to participate, I might set up a rotation, maybe even a console-based one - and we'd basically talk about a series of topics for a while. Most probably games we're playing, or the current events of the week in gaming news. We could arrange events where the podcast members read and respond to forum posts on the podcast itself, or where we all get together and play the same game for a while and talk about the game. There's a lot o  possibilities here.

We've got some really cool members. I think it could work. More, it's something I want to try out. If it gets popular, maybe we could see about expanding it somehow.

This is just a topic to express whether or not you'd be interesting in listening to the podcast, but the outcome of this vot won't determine whether or not I go through with the idea. I just want to see if there would be enough people interested in listening to justify doing iit. If there are, I'll make a topic for applications to become part of the podcast crew.

This in itself isn't a sign-up topic, but if you're interested in being on the podcast, mention that fact and I'll take it into account. Potential volunteers carry a lot more weight, in this case, because they may bring in their own listeners.

So.

Would anyone like an Unofficial VGChartz Forum Member Podcast? If so, what do you want it to be like?

EDIT: This podcast would be audio-only, because making a video podcast where everybody lives hudnreds of miles away from each other is SLIGHTLY unfeasible.

I don't think I understand your reservations

It could be fun but we'd need some sort of managing system so not only users with a particular bias get to hog the screen time every time and, of course, people who can be vocal about their opinions in a way that is both entertaining and informative.
There aren't a whole lot of people like that, especially considering that they'd need to live in the same vicinity and all the podcasts would likely be from the US, which also limits the appeal somewhat for many.
I did vote yes though, I could see this as a terrific idea if it was made to work somehow!

There are definitely some logistics problems, but I'm open to suggestions about how best to make it work. As to fanboys participating... well, while I'm running it, I'd do my best to keep that sort of thing to an absolute minimum, and if they do participate at any point I'd make sure they were grouped with individuals with whom they would not immediately clash.

One of the primary factors for participatingi n the podcast - eve nabove locoation or console preference - would be the ability to get through a conversation without showing one's console bias.

What kind of structure to the podcast do you think would work best here? A weekly rotation of members with different preferences? A single collection who are generally unbiased, or at least balanced in their bias?

What is a podcast?

That's something I'd love to be a part of.

Pixel Art can be fun.

A podcast is either one person or a group of people talking about a particular subject and broadcasting it over the internet. It gets its name from the fact that they were coined during a time when everyone would listen to them on their iPods.

Generally it'd be four or five of us sitting around and talking about games, responding to forum posts, or commenting on the news. Or just whatever, you know? Whatever forum-goers think would make for the best listening experience.

I would like to listen to it, but I would LOVE to participate in it.

It would be worthwhile. Something more community-based, where we can get real, honest opinions, but keep discourse civilized.

I like it.
