"This represents a spectacular rebound (go and look at the "compare consoles" chart and look at the gradient!) with a 176% increase in sales for no apparent reason: no hit games, no price cut, no new model or anything similar."

Metroid prime 3 is released on 26 october in Europe. It's one of reasons.

I'm telling you, people have never heard of Metroid over here.

MP3 did pretty well in the UK , so that could be ... maybe its like Gothic in Germany ...

Vote the Mayor for Mayor!

i promise, we have heard of Metroid. may be you just need to be out of school by a few years to do so. but my long hours of super metroid were not the only ones in europe back in the days. but i agree that in some ways, some europeans haven't heard of it, mainly the PS generation. (but don't forget the older gamers)

Holiday season, man, Come on! Hahahahahaha!

Game_Boy, PLEASE dont say no-one in the UK wants Metroid. I and 3 other mates of mine (2 who aren't even Ninty fanboys) own this. If you have Nintendo fanboys who live near you and dont know what Metroid is, you sure they didnt just become Nintendo Fanboys when the Wii started doing well?

Yeah, and thats why I bought it on release date and several of my "never-heard-of-metroid"-friends bought it aswell or will buy it later...Metroid is a very well known game in Europe since the 80ies

Interesting to note that the Wii is now selling faster in the UK then Japan, which moves the UK to 2nd fastest* Wii & 360 market in the world.

*at this point in time.

"..just keep on trying 'till you run out of cake"

Next weeks sales numbers should show us if this is an ajustment or are real sales weekly figures.

It's clear that in the last month or so that the Wii has been completely sold out, as in "can't find it online at all" instead of "could find if you looked hard enough" sold out that was true for about 5 months

France just passed 1million Wii's sold, Congrats ninty :)

yah!! perhaps we maj just become more important when deciding games release dates then...

Those people that think they're perfect give a bad reputation to us who are...

"With the DS, it's fair to say that Nintendo stepped out of the technical race and went for a feature differentiation with the touch screen, but I fear that it won't have a lasting impact beyond that of a gimmick - so the long-lasting appeal of the platform is at peril as a direct result of that." - Phil Harrison, Sony

speculation.
perhaps, the production for Jap Wii was cut to increase Europe Wii.
Jap Wii were steady at 60k weekly for a long time and maybe they think the amount currently is good enough to keep a lead there.
Now, they are pumping out more units for Europe to take the lead there, too.

Why I think so? The Wii is dropping sharply in Japan to ~30k doesn't seem natural.
Ninty also said the #of Wiis produce per month is 1.8M/Month globally, so, increasing sales in any region will directly affect the others.
