Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Will Super Mario Galaxy take the crown from Ocarina of Time?

Ocarina of Time earned the title of Greatest Game from being in the right place at the right time. It was a large, free-roaming 3D adventure game, the first one to strike with a powerful brand behind it (The Legend of Zelda, and Nintendo). 3D was still new, and this one wowed everyone.

Super Mario Galaxy may take third, it'll come really close to Super Mario 64, but I don't think this industry will ever see another Ocarina of Time.

It won't hold the number 2 spot if more reviews like GameDaily's one start rolling out...

The review: http://www.gamedaily.com/games/super-mario-galaxy/wii/game-reviews/review/2354/1856/

It got 9, but the negativism of the review is downright funny

.

Hrm, OoT isnt special? I haven't played a game that gave me such an amazing feeling. Especially the bit when he pulls the sword from the altar and you see him as an adult for the first time, then again, finding out that you can travel freely backwards and forth between time was great as well. Ooooh so many great memories. Anyone who says OoT doesnt deserve it, needs to be taken around the back and... (only kidding, everyone has their own opinions but for me, this was the game that made me appreciate videogames more and made me see how beautiful they could be, similar to with what Ico did for me on PS2)

I'm not sure gamedaily is even taken into account by gamerankings. And the negative points are pretty weak indeed.

I got bthat feeling with a link to the past, getting the master sword - maybe this correlates more with age than games.

Age? God no, i played the original LttP, great game, just never gave me THAT feeling.  Probably just more a matter of opinion, i have a mate who wont even touch OoT because its a boring game thats for "kiddies". Sometimes i really hate him.

I would like to revive this thread, because now with 18 reviews at GR, Galaxy is now at .2% away from Ocarina of Time. Different to many games out there, Galaxy's average INCREASES with more reviews.

Now I'm a believer.

We'll see, I figured it would have dropped a bit by now. All you need is that one rogue reviewer to throw an 8 out and that would about do it.

1. Ocarina of Time N64 97.6%
2. Super Mario Galaxy WII 97.4%
3. Soul Calibur DC 96.4%
4. Metroid Prime GC 96.3%
5. The Orange Box PC 96.2%

Wii code: 4679-4491-5808-6319,MKWii: 4296-3394-2843; Animal Crossing Wii: 3008-1736-4670.

It's interesting For me the OoT is the best Zelda game have not played MM as many says it is much better. Super Mario Galaxy has become a more must buy and I think that a site that gives it an 8 now needs some balls.

Think twice before helping a friend in need.
