Forums - General Discussion - Blu-Ray beats HD DVD in software sales 55:45 week ending 10/28

HD DVD has Shrek 3, Hairspray (each of which lend themselves to high def visuals and audio). But the key is that HD DVD can give you these movies and the medium on which to play them at an affordable price, Blu ray cannot.

About Hairspray, read my post two above yours. ;)

Actually dabaus513, HD DVD was selling the best until Sony Trojan-horsed Blu ray into the PS3, forcing gaming consumers to consume a cost that should have been bourne by the industry. And while we are talking about slaps in the face to the consumer, why do you think Disney is exclusive??? Do you think they do it out of the goodness of their hearts. NO. They are paid, just like Paramount.

Well microsoft has done some pretty drastic things regarding the gaming industry as well...(EA)

 2008 end of year predictions:

PS3: 22M

360: 25M

wii: 40M

What did MS do with EA?

you do realize Blu-ray wasnt released till the PS3 was released. Still it seems your a bit annoyed that Sony has a good chance at winning the format war with a superior format. Better call the wwwwwwwwwaaaaaaaaabulance.

I don't think Peter is incharge of EA, he is incharge of a Division of EA and that division is EA sports last i heard.

You do realize that BR came out in June 06 5 months b4 the PS3 came out. Seems that your a bit annoyed that Sony was dumb to try and win a video game and video format war with a video game machine.

btw who is new line cinema supporting? I hope i can get my mortal kombat and hobbit fun on da blu ray

They're currently neutral like Warner Bros., as both are owned by Time Warner, though they seem to be favoring Blu-Ray. Their only two release so far are Hairspray and the upcoming Rush Hour 3, both of which are releasing over the holidays, with the HD DVD version coming sometime in '08.

Pans Labyrinth which is New Line is also coming out in Dec. for both formats.

Why does it matter? If HD DVD can't gain an advantage over blu ray with Transformers, what will?

Like a boxing fight, keep losing round after round, even if you land the bigger shot, and they will add up on you. Then you grow tired, and finally, you get caught with a hook. BAM! You look at all the trainers he has, cheering him on. Then you look at your trainers. So few, doubting themselves because they supported the crippled, flawed boxer.

Yep, just like boxing.

I'll take the case!!!

You do know that many stores ran BOGO sales on BR movies that same week. So they had to give away alot of movies just to win the week 51/49 if you ask me thats kind of sad. With the PS3 BR has a 5 to 1 player advantage over HD and they had big BOGO sales and they barely won.
