Forums - Gaming Discussion - The thing that pisses me off the most about game pirates...

Wow, Vlad hasn't showed up yet. I figured he would be here by now. After all, it is a piracy discussion. (Not that I am attacking Vlad, it's just that he's wrong )

Whenever I have to type in a CD key or go through some other DRM procedure for a piece of software, I think "damn pirates". Now I know that a perfect world where there are no pirates and software makers don't have to do anything to protect their software that annoys their customers does not exist, but it doesn't stop me from getting pissed of at pirates each time I encounter DRM. Plus I morally object to breaking the law, being the good brainwashed military officer that I am.

Whats Vlads opinion on poracy if you dont mind me asking? :)

I pirate on the PSP because psp games here cost an average of 100 dollars each. Plus I make just about 40 dollars a day (which is actually a lot here, where minimun wage is about 480 dollars/month).

Everyone here who doesn't pirate on the 360 and buys games constantly must be rich as hell. A 360 game here goes for about 250 dollars.

I pirate games, yeah.. I'm not going to lie.. BUT.. Continue reading.

But for the PC. Why would I pay ~$60 to find out I don't even like the game? Why don't they release more demos for PC games..? Again, I pirate games that I am unsure of buying, and if there is no demo for the game. If I really enjoy the game and think its worth my money, I'm a good person, I will go buy the game and support the developer. Simple as that.

Pirate versions of games are almost always significantly better than actual games. I know for a fact I have a whole bunch of games which I never installed, but installed pirated copies so I don't have to put up with shit like DRM. They got their money, they can stick all their bullshit up their asses. Then maybe they can take their heads out of their asses to release proper copies.

yeah...remember Gears of War PC fiasco. That supports your argument. But I figure you got to play by the rules from time to time... For the good of the industry, which is in quite a bad shape.

Like I'm not going to lie. I've pirated Dreamcast games, PS2 games...and I still pirate PC games form time to time...but its rarely cause I want to play them pirated.

Like I wanted to see how good Crysis Warhead runs on my machine...so I downloaded it. Still have it, didn't play more than 10 mins of it...

I personally don't like the whole "the world owes me somthing" attitude in general. Nope, world owes you nothing. Pay for what you get, it's how the world works.

Actually, that's how Capitalism works.

Blank? Blank.

Meh, don't let them get you down, they aren't gamers anyway.

How can someone who pirates and actively tries to destroy the gaming industry call themselves a gamer?

It sucks they get early access to games and get them for free when you don't, but hey, at least you aren't a greedy selfish douche.

Everyone always says that they will buy the game if its good because its the right thing to say. The reality is NOBODY actually buys the legit version afterwards. Why would someone purchase the game after they are done and finished with it first. People still make this claim with music that they will buy the CD if they like it afterwards. The truth is if it does happen its rare.
But one of the biggest misconceptions is that if pirating didn't exist that sales would be higher. Pirating appeals to people who never planned on making the purchase to begin with.

While I don't believe that if piracy weren't possible, everyone who pirates a game would have bought it, I do believe people pirate games because they have an interest in the game.

While they might not buy every game they have an interest in, they would buy some of them so there would be pretty nice bumps in sales.

No... instead you sell your games used and not only ensure that the dev sees no money, but you in turn get paid for THEIR work. Used market is far fuller of greedy asses than pirates. I find it funny how they think otherwise.
