Um, that sentence seems disjointed. I don't know what the point is.

And he's not claiming there won't be major system sellters this year. You are. Plus you actually think the Vitality sensor games wouldn't come until next year. He makes no such claim. You're counter argument is invalid since it's through the fallacy that games not announced will take until next year.

If you read his older blogs about Zelda he might as well said it. Or are you blind to noticed it? YES. Theres no system seller this year according to him, have you read the blog? Maybe Im the one who ask you that. He thinks the 3 super GC games dumped in 2010 because he thinks Nintendo knew it wouldnt sell systems. He just might as well say if not because of SMB 5 the Wii could be doomed right now.

Iwata says the Wii vitality sensor and its software will be announced in July E3 Iwata didnt say the Wii vitality sensor will release this year.

Simply because he didnt say it directly doesnt mean we should be blind on what he reqally meants.

If they're announcing it this year, it's releasing this year. This is Nintendo's way.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

Wii Sports Resort. Punch-Out!! Super Mario Galaxy 2. Metroid: Other M. Sin and Punishment 2. Dynamic Slash. Cosmic Walker. Endless Ocean 2.

It's apparently not as universal a rule as it's made out to be.

Actually, a Motion+ Zelda that takes full advantage of the new interface is one of the titles he's said would create/sustain momentum...if it's done right. Seeing as how all we've got is a title and one (1) peice of artwork, he can not say that it won't be done right. Nor do I think he has. He has, however, expressed tremendous pessimism. That's not the same thing, though.

"Yeah the Wii was doomed I say, DOOMED. Except for Wii vitality sensor theres nothing on Nintendo that pushes the Wii hardware after SMB 5 in 2009."

No, you are declaring that. He didn't. He's interpreting Nintendo is moving in a new direction, which is what the parts you left out indicate.

Well lets take it this way, if not for SMB 5 and fill the void of 2010 he might just say Wii was doomed and wont sell that much just as like what happened in 2008.

Malstrom: SMG 2 and Metroid other M? Wii relax could be a 2011 title? If not for SMB 5 IF NOT for SMB 5. At least Nintendo done something right and dumped super GC games such as Zelda Wii, SMG 2 and Metroid other M. Though theres nothing they can offer disruptive this year. At leasst theyre trying.

He is right, SMB5 is a system mover like Wii sports  and Wii Fit.

Metroit Other M and Zelda are NOT system movers, never have been apart from perhaps Zelda 1.

I doubt Zelda itself will be a system mover, because what people want, wiimote gameplay incorporated at its core, seems to be implied to be tacked on, as iirc the Zelda game was in development before Wii+ was announced, then they grafted it on.

You cant just 'graft' a totally different control style into the game, you would have to change EVERYTHING in the game to accomodate it, dungeons, bosses, enemies, everything.

And yet he dismissed Red Steel 2 even though its what he wants and more on Zelda. He just ignored Red Steel 2 because its a third paty game. You know, the ones that making "retarded games" even though thats what the Wii makes it signature like Just Dance, Cabella 2010 and Carnival games and game party.

This is from Malstrom himself about Red Steel 2:

http://seanmalstrom.wordpress.com/2009/09/02/email-will-red-steel-2-sell/

"I don’t have any faith in Red Steel 2 to sell. People who played it at E3 complained about the controls. Controls will make or break a Wii game."

"No one has really made a ‘core’ game that I’ve really wanted to be seen. First, you start off with the good controls and essential arcade like gameplay. Then, and only then, you add on everything else. It would be as if I started out with Wii Sports Resort’s “sword fighting” and then started adding dungeons and monsters. Or if I started out with the archery and added the Mii riding a dragon and had to shoot other dragons."

"Red Steel 2, which does seem nicely done production wise, seems as if the game, and the controls, were made differently. The content is not an organic outgrowth of the controls. If it was, then why would controls be such an issue at this late of period?"

"Is there any multiplayer in Red Steel 2? I didn’t think so. And that is another reason why people won’t get it."

"At this current time, I don’t think Red Steel 2 will sell too well."

Nice going jumping to conclusions Malstrom now we never knew whats the potential of Red Steel 2 because your legions wouldnt buy this game at all.

And yet he praises this title Dynamic Zan:

http://seanmalstrom.wordpress.com/2009/11/13/email-malstroms-gauntlet-game/

"Thank you for alerting me on this. There aren’t any details out, and I don’t know whether Zan gets the Motion Plus."

"For those of you perhaps new to this site, I try to throw my hat in the ring and say what type of game needs to come out to really score big with the Expanded Audience as well as Nintendo’s Core Audience. Prior to E3 2009, I kept saying “New 2d Mario, Nintendo. DO IT!!!” over and over to the point of nauseum. And, lo and behold, Nintendo made it, and we’re going to see how it performs. I think it will hit a sweet spot of satisfying BOTH Core consumers and Expanded consumers. Girls love playing Mario. I hear everywhere from guys how their wives are excited to play NSMB Wii, and they aren’t really excited to play any other game."

"So, throwing my hat in the ring again, I have been saying that the next big thing after that would be taking the Wii Sports Resort type controls, such as arrow shooting, swordplay, frisbee, and applying it to a four player Gauntlet type game. People would have different weapons and would need to cooperate to get through the monsters. Think of those Instance dungeons in World of Warcraft where people have to cooperate to get through. And, of course, such a hypothetical game could be played alone. But the idea that you can get new swords, upgrade your swords and bows, and play it all with motion plus controls just sounds so sweet to me."

"Nintendo sees their Expanded Audience as people who do not like to be caught up in a fantasy world which is why the Wii brand games use the Miis and use an almost sterile setting. And Nintendo saw the Core Audience as the Zelda, Metroid, 3d Mario types."

"Isn’t there anything in between? Most gamers were made in games like NES Super Mario Brothers or NES Zelda. NSMB DS, Mario Kart Wii, and Mario Kart DS proves that an arcade centric type game, even placed in a fantasy setting, will satisfy core gamers as well as satisfying Expanded Audience gamers. The uptick in Mario Kart sales of the DS and Wii from prior incarnations shows this. And NSMB DS shows that the game will attract people who have never played Mario before."

"Gauntlet was a game that had people come together and play together. Such a type of game seemed fitting and doable with Wii Sports Resort type controls. I recall women playing Gauntlet when it was out."

"And many women do play World of Warcraft. So a party dungeon-crawler or party RPG type game I think would be the next big hit (correctly executed, of course)."

"Nintendo is apparently publishing the game, Zangeki no REGINLEIV, in Japan. This will also be the first ever Nintendo-published title with a D rating in Japan (basically the equivalent of an MA15+)."

Didnt he knew that the game was on rails right? GEEZ...

end of core gaming days prediction:

E3 2006-The beginning of the end. Wii introduced

E3 2008- Armageddon. Wii motion plus introduced. Wii Music. Reggie says Animal crossing was a core game. Massive disappointment. many Wii core gamers selling their Wii.

E3 2010- Tape runs out

"Didnt he knew that the game was on rails right? GEEZ..."

The game is not On-rails. On-rails is a game like Resident Evil Darksie Chronicles. This will be more like Sin and Punishment (funny thing is that I see people praising Sin and Punishment). And he made some blog posts about the game: http://seanmalstrom.wordpress.com/2009/12/04/keep-an-eye-on-zangeki-no-reginleiv/

Above: still the best game of the year.

Games like RE DC are arcade lightgun shooters, on rails are the likes of Starfox, After Burner, Panzer Dragoon, Sin and Punishment 2, Dragon Quest swords, Swordplay in Wii Sports, etc...

theres a huge difference and I think Malstrom was wrong when thinking about this game. Red Sttel 2 was better conceptually than on rails Dynamic Zan.

^Hey Yushire, why don't you send your comments to Malstrom himself and let him respond to you?

Predictions:Sales of Wii Fit will surpass the combined sales of the Grand Theft Auto franchiseLifetime sales of Wii will surpass the combined sales of the entire Playstation family of consoles by 12/31/2015 Wii hardware sales will surpass the total hardware sales of the PS2 by 12/31/2010 Wii will have 50% marketshare or more by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  It was a little over 48% only)Wii will surpass 45 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  Nintendo Financials showed it fell slightly short of 45 million shipped by end of 2008)Wii will surpass 80 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2009 (I was wrong!! Wii didn't even get to 70 Million)

Like what? Like correcting him whats a on rails game and what is not? And bash me in his blog afterwards? Like other persons emailing him like Zelda and 3-d mario? Im posting here for anyone that believes on him and his opinions. His disruption and end of core gaming was cute and all but anything else NO.

Help me out here, because I'm not seeing how this contradicts a single thing I said. Bad controls do not equal "done right."

Again, I have no idea what you're trying to get across. Here he's saying that a multiplayer arcade-type action game that uses good motion controls will be a hit. He hypothesizes that Dynamic Slash may, or may not, be that game, so keep an eye on it. Where's the contradiction?

On rails is a kind of arcade gameplay, so I fail to see where he contradicts himself.

And the game being on rails is not confirmed. It could be a EDF-style game.

I LOVE ICELAND!
