Forums - Sony Discussion - Will sony make the biggest turn around in gaming history?!?!?!

@GameMusic

"The Sony PS3 COULD be about to pull off one of the biggest turn-arounds the games market has ever seen."

This was the first sentence in that post. If you would had read it, you would know that it COULD pull it off. Not once in that article did this person mention that it did pull off the biggest turnaround in VG history.

See if you could READ and COMPREHEND, you would understand.

I'll take the case!!!

3) Size and varied environments.  Games may not be getting larger in time required to complete them but environments in Halo 3 and Resistance are massive compare to past generations.  Those massive environments are much more detailed and are no longer confined to small room levels in dungeons.  Warthogs, planes, hovercrafts, races, etc. are changing games from just FPS to FPS + Driving + Flying etc.  Hence the comments that each Halo 3 chapter is larger then the entire Halo 2 game.  Again, future generations will continue to grow on this theme.

As the environments get larger, the games are getting smaller. *cough* Halo 3 *cough*

What good is having a massive environment if you only have to go through a small part of it to complete your objective.

Am I supposed to stand around and look at the massive environment so I can complete a 5 hour game in 6 hours?

Yes, but hes saying that how can you say it could after one week of it having good sales, and a price drop.

Did we suddenly see posts all over saying "360 could catch up to wii because it is outselling it in one market!" No, because we dont know enough to determine that

                 With regard to Call of Duty 4 having an ultra short single player campaign, I guess it may well have been due to the size limitations of DVD on the XBox 360, one of various limitations multi-platform game designers will have to take into consideration-Mike B

Game trailers-Halo 3 only dissapointed the people who wanted to be dissapointed.

Bet with Harvey Birdman that Lost Odyssey will sell more then Blue dragon did.

Show me how halo 3 is smaller, besides in campaign which is debatable (took me longer then 2), disc size theres no argument which is bigger. In terms of space your completely off, and the fact they are more detailed and yes they are larger

You may only have to go trough a certain part, but your missing out on the goodies

I sure hope your not refering to the halo hours, and yes thats a possiblity, go looking for goodies (skulls and terminals)

I don't think Halo 3 is smaller.... It is bigger in a different way.  Halo 3 has huge replayability.  The multiplayer, skulls, terminals, different endings, etc.

Adds to the size discussion.  Many newer games have huge amounts of replayability to achieve different goals or achievements in this generation vs. previous generations who only had basic linear goals...  The adding of achievements really is making games more replayable...

It hate the way ppl say PS3 does no have any good games, by the way it has, COD4, Unreal Tournaments, Uncharted Rachet and Clank and some more multi plats are going to come, the 40 GB is going to be attractive to many people, considering that most people havein a PS3 dont neccearily throw away there PS3, and u never know the emulator for the PS3 was not 100% on software it used the GS alot, maybe a third party manufactuerer mught produce an external chip to help BC, but thats only a maybe, even if since the price is down and there will be AAA games on the PS3 this winter, i guess i would not be suprised if the PS3 out sells the 360, but the Wii is 100% gonna be the winner no matter what

@neo-ratt's 5 points
1. Enemy ai I think is reaching a saturation point, frankly the differences will go unnoticed to the average person and really are just an attempt to show off between developers,
2. This is a design choice, non-linear games with multi means to reach an end have exist for a long time,
3. LAst-gen hard large open environments, the difference is really inconsequential as you can't be 2 places at once
4. This is once again a design choice, seriously as stated before dues ex, system shock and more already did this
5.Once again a design choice destructable environments have been around for years,
