Because, contrary to what most people believe, it would not be a sales monster. It would sell good, surely, but not FF7-levels.

Basically, I don't think Square see the point in doing a full-fledged HD remake of FF7 when they can just as easily make a new FF-game instead and net greater sales in doing so. If FF7 were to get a HD remake, I'd probably assume somewhere around 4-5 million ... With a new FF game, 5 million is pretty much the lowest possible number it could get.

Thing is, it's a port with HD graphics. They could put their D team on it for most of its early development, kick up the production values right at the end, add the A team for a few months of polish, and kick it out the door. It wouldn't cost half of what an entirely new FF would bring, it could be developed along side several different projects without taking up too many resources, or time, and it would still be one of the best HD games.

Why aren't they doing a FFVII HD?

I think they are. I can't wait for E3 this year or next year.

Likewise.

I've thought it for a year now... Versus 13 isn't really "Versus 13". It's just something they made as a cover up for the Remake THAT's why we haven't really seen anything at all from "Versus".

because the quantity and quality in FF 7 is unmatchable :P and if they make FF15 it wud be like FF13 around 50-60 hours of main story (i think) which is un comparable to FF7s about 100 hour of only main story lol which u also cant find in any video game in this gen

No, i'd not rather have 15.

Im a FF7 fanboy. Along with millions more people.

Heres something for you...

Go to YouTube, type in "Final Fantasy"... View the "most viewed" video... See what it is

Ghazi, wth are you talking about?
FF VII only main story is like 30hours.

"And yet, I've realized that maybe living a "decent" life means you won't ever have a "good" life."

It would be the most ambitious and costly project they've ever undertaken.

"Why does everyone ask about Chrono Trigger? (responding to a comment about the title being loved) That's not what the sales tell me! If people want a sequel, they should buy more!" - Square Enix Senior Vice President Shinji Hashimoto

i think they are keeping 7 in the bad for when money is low and they need some more production for a new FF game.

probably in 2020 when we have 40core cpus and some crazy 3d world we can walk around in ourself haha.

Ambitious, yes. But why the most costly?
