I've lucked out lately but being a 6'4" guy around 200 lbs, getting stuck next to a fatty is a truly miserable experience for me. I have a hard enough time jamming myself into some of those airline seats as it is. Getting stuck next to someone who can't lay off the fucking doughnuts and lasagna only makes it worse.

I may sound mean but it's how I feel. Some people are overweight for legitimate reasons; unfortunately, that's only a small portion of the fat bastards on this planet. The rest are that way because of their own doing. After spending a decade and a half in southern California and recently moving back to the Midwest, my tolerance for fat people is at an all-time low. Yesterday, I came out of a grocery store and saw a 5' tall 12 year old girl who probably weighed as much, if not more, than me. Ridiculous.

+1

I still don't understand how many people let themselves get like that in the first place! I mean once you notice that you are gaining a lot of wieght why on earth would you just continue to put on more? Ugh, annoys me.

I believe it's kinda like a bell curve... the more you get fat... the more your metabolism slows, making it easier and easier to get fat and harder and harder to get skinny until you get to a certain point of very fat.

So it takes a REALLY serious effort to get out of being fat.

Also being smrt ad stopping to eat when people ae no longer hungry, not when they are full, let's anyone eat whatever they want without getting fat. Seriously, try it.

There is no excuse if someone wants to stuff themseves full every tiem they eat, they bring it on themselves. Everything has consequences, I don't see why being fat shouldn't carry any.

I am 5'6 130.

I am just talking from a biological perspective.  It's easier to eat healthy right away then it is to lose weight you've gained.

I was 6 5 and 225, then I stopped working out compeltely and fell to 175, then back to 225 from pure fat, now I'm down to a stable 195-200. I didn't exercise or do anything and ate anything I wanted to lose 25 pounds. I just stopped eating when I was no longer hungry, not when I was "full." It works damn wonders.

Did you go from 175 back to 225 because of your eating habbits while at the gym? when I was at the gym I ate lots of protien etc and when I stopped at the gym, I cairried on eating the same way, and my weight soon piled on lol, but its back to normal-ish now.

Since airlines are rarely booked solid, I think it would be fair to charge an extra 25%-50% for their second seat.

I'd call it a bit unfair to charge them for two full priced tickets though.

Yet, today, America's leaders are reenacting every folly that brought these great powers [Russia, Germany, and Japan] to ruin -- from arrogance and hubris, to assertions of global hegemony, to imperial overstretch, to trumpeting new 'crusades,' to handing out war guarantees to regions and countries where Americans have never fought before. We are piling up the kind of commitments that produced the greatest disasters of the twentieth century.

I don't know which flights you fly on but the ones I'm on are generally packed.

Please disregard this post... I was angry, stupid, and off my meds... Sorry, dudes and dudettes...

At everyone who insulted and are continuing to insult the obese population of this world: GO PISS UP A ROPE, YOU WHINY LITTLE BITCHES! I'm punished enough by myself and others I know for not being as lean as I wanna be, I don't need a bunch of perfect strangers to tell me I'm an abomination; tell me something I don't know, goddammit! And do you wanna know why I'm so fat? Wait, that's a rhetorical question: of course you don't wanna know! I'll tell you, anyway: my goddamn Schizophrenia medications increase my appetite so goddamn much I can't stop myself from eating such a goddamn ridiculous amount of food... My point is that you can't go around calling people gross, especially when these people are bigger than you... A halfling shouldn't cast stones into a field full of giants, and not expect to be flattened... And if that sounds like a threat to you, then congratulations: you get my point... So watch your step, for the foot you step on today might be crammed up your candy ass tomorrow!

Do you think that everyone that says obese people should pay for two seats is insulting you?

I'm not, it's just that obese people take up more room, there's no simpler way to put that.

Just like if you check a bag that weighs more than whatever limit you have to pay more, if you take up more than one seat you should have to pay for more than one seat.

Again, that isn't an insult, it's just looking at facts.

Even going for my personal preferences, I don't want someone's fat hanging over onto my seat.  That's just disgusting.  It's not disgusting because you're fat, it's just disgusting because it's disgusting.  It's the same way that if someone who has smelly feet sat next to me and then took off their shoes.  Both of those are incredibly offensive to me and it's not my problem, it's your problem.

You can go on and on about your problems and why you're fat, I don't care, that isn't important to me in this situation in the least.  All I know is I don't want someone spilling over into my seat.  Again, it's not insensitive in the least.  I pay for a seat on an airplane and I shouldn't have to share it with someone who doesn't fit in a seat.

I apologize for what I said... I just got angry in the heat of the moment and, well, you get the idea... I'm gonna edit my post and then I'm gonna take my evening dose... Again, very sorry...
