Forums - General Discussion - Should obese people be required to buy two seats when flying?

Yes. I had to sit by some fatass fuck on my trip to Florida I think it was; and his fuckin fat was on my armrest and I could barely get my seatbelt done up cause his fat was hangin over.

They should have to pay 2 seats...BECAUSE THEY TAKE UP 2 SEATS!!! It's not racism or prejudice, its just fact; they take up 2 seats so they should pay for both.

Pretty much this.

Why should I have to suffer because you're fat?

I'm really not trying to be insensitive there, it's just the truth.  The person may be fat because of gland problem, daddy issues, or they just like to eat, whatever it is or however much control they have is over it I don't really care, it's their problem and not mine.

Also, there is the weight issue where they essentially are the weight of two people taking a single seat which can mess with amounts of feul I assume.

Yes, if your fat enough to use 2 seats then you should have to pay for them

also if you are a buildy builder and take up the same space you should pay as well

I've lucked out lately but being a 6'4" guy around 200 lbs, getting stuck next to a fatty is a truly miserable experience for me. I have a hard enough time jamming myself into some of those airline seats as it is. Getting stuck next to someone who can't lay off the fucking doughnuts and lasagna only makes it worse.

I may sound mean but it's how I feel. Some people are overweight for legitimate reasons; unfortunately, that's only a small portion of the fat bastards on this planet. The rest are that way because of their own doing. After spending a decade and a half in southern California and recently moving back to the Midwest, my tolerance for fat people is at an all-time low. Yesterday, I came out of a grocery store and saw a 5' tall 12 year old girl who probably weighed as much, if not more, than me. Ridiculous.

EXACTLY! I'm 6 5 and 200 and I feel the exact same. I also learned that people's vision of "mean" is sqewed. As far as I'm concerned, if it's true it's NOT an insult (fat, stupid, w/e) but truth. I don't know how society has made out truth to be insulting.... Next thing you know you won't be able to call whores whores because you'd hurt their feelings and it would be mean and not politically correct (when fat people go through what blacks went THEN they can whine about being called a specific word).

Yeah, I do laugh at all the people calling everyone who says fat people should get two seats insensitive pricks.

You can be insensitive and offensive about these things, but if it's true, there's really no other way to put it-- you're too fat for an airplane seat and if you try to fit in one seat you hinder everyone else.  It may or may not be your fault you're fat, but it definitely isn't my fault you're fat so there's no reason to inconvenience me.

They could just sit the really fat people next to anorexic/belemic girls or super skinny asians.

I still don't understand how many people let themselves get like that in the first place! I mean once you notice that you are gaining a lot of wieght why on earth would you just continue to put on more? Ugh, annoys me.

I feel like this thread is a sarcastic way of making fun of fat people

Have you flown next to a really fat person? Its really uncomfortable for the rest of us and its kind of annoying that airlines haven't srtarted charging fat people for the extra seats they take up.

Shouldn't you be sitting next to your friends or family? (unless you're an older person and are going away for work or something)

Because grown-ups travel without friends of family at times.

I believe it's kinda like a bell curve... the more you get fat... the more your metabolism slows, making it easier and easier to get fat and harder and harder to get skinny until you get to a certain point of very fat.

So it takes a REALLY serious effort to get out of being fat.

1 hour of (reasonably fast) walking every day. Reducing caloric intake progressively.

Wouldn't this be a sure fire way of getting thinner for most people?
