Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Greenburg makes some bold comments about Reach, PS3, GT5, etc.

It's funny how every time NPD comes out, USA becomes the world and the rest of it is forgotten.

The PS3 has a great advantage and I don't see it slowing down for quite some time.  It will be ahead for the rest of the holidays and it has MAG, GOWIII and GT5.   I'm sure MS is worried, but they won't show it to the public.

From here on out it's a gun fight, and Sony is going to let Microsoft know that they need to stop bringing a knife.

He's right, that $199 is a huge advantage, and Halo Reach is going to be huge. But GT5 is not a game to take lightly.

Agreed !

Atto Suggests...:

Book - Malazan Book of the Fallen series

Game - Metro Last Light

Music - Forest Swords

But if MS has the commando perk, lightweight pro and marathon Sony could be in trouble. They could be firing but when MS comes fast... whoosh. (Modern Warfare 2 reference)

It's just that simple.

Don't think you had to add the hint :p

It's probably taken out of context, but the article says the guy exclaimed "holy crap" in regards to the 2:1 sale of MW2 on 360 to PS3. This really isn't that shocking, as 2:1 is about the same ratio for the amount of 360's and PS3's in the US.

Yeah i want to see Halo Reach be Ms killer app next year. GT5 sales might be surprising.

I think it presumptive to talk about what Reach is like, and its impact, until it comes out with at least a list of features.  As far as I know, it won't have Master Chief for one thing.

he's getting way too arrogant with his statements. It's like Sony from 2000-2007 all over again, but with Microsoft this time.

So why is a title like MAG, which is a FPS, supposed to be a big title next year?  Last PS3 exclusive FPS I saw that was supposed to be a game changer and make a difference was Killzone 2.  Well, it didn't make a difference.  Do you think that MAG is going to cause the world of console FPS games to tip in the favor of Sony?  What happens if Halo Reach supports up to 500 players in a single battle online at the same time?  I think MAG becomes irrelevant at that point.

I see Gran Turismo 5 being important, but God of War 3?  As good as it is, why is it going to end up being a huge differentiator?  If Bayonetta ends up being all that, then God of War 3 is offset.

Strange, as a general rule in marketing, you dont speak against the other companies when your selling your product. Sincerely hes not a very good representative, he his focusing way too much on comparing to the others. When your sure about your product this is not the type of statement that you make.

I dont understand why he say there will be more blockbuster exclusive. Up to now its even enough. Maybe they will annouce more titles but still he dont know if sony will do the same. Anyway the thing is that he should have said: "Two, we will have a lot of games, most exclusives will be blockbuster, no matter the genre." Instead of saying they will have more when obviously he dont know if its really the case.

Also funny that he called GT5 prologue a minigame. You dont need to make fun of another game if your confident about yours. He could have said: Gran turismo seems like a good product, but we really think that Halo reach will be the biggest seller even with the release of GT5.

The rest of article is good tho, he has some really good point also. Anyway that was my 2 cents being a sale manager.

That could have something to do with what NPD stands for...

themanwithnoname's law: As an America's sales or NPD thread grows longer, the probabilty of the comment "America = World" [sarcasticly] being made approaches 1.

Personally I'm not really interested in MAG.  I'll stick to my PC for FPS.  I was just going off of the preorders.  I know a lot might be due to the beta but they are still fairly high for a new IP that is this far from its release date.

Other than preorder assumptions, I would say GOWIII and GT5 are the biggest guns that Sony has next year.  Maybe Final Fantasy Versus XIII, if it ever comes out.

I won't deny that the 360 has a strong lineup too, some of those games I would love to play.  But I gotta get a new PSP before I start saving for a 360.  If the PS3 would stop getting such great games, maybe I would have both by now.
